No really, I’m serious!  People think that I make this stuff up but I only wish I were that creative!

Here in Clark County we have a ‘Bee Guy’, a necessary position to help control the Killer Bees populations of guys like me who raise and train millions of them to attack political bottom-feeders in both parties.

Our county Bee Guy earns over $80,000 per year driving around taking out bees and he’s also supposed to keep tabs on the thousands of Smutboxes in the county that are either licensed or unlicensed under county codes.  

His bee duties are called ‘Vector Control’ and he operates in a trailer in the southeast valley not having a permanent office lately because of remodeling and repairs.

He’s much fun to watch day-to-day as he drives around basically doing absolutely nothing while ostensibly looking for bees!

He doesn’t even keep a census of where the county’s boxes are located and who is in license compliance and who is not.

No one holds him to any standard of accountability at all and he does as he pleases all day long too!

In fact, Clark County doesn’t have any idea how many thousands of visual pollution boxes clutter our valley and they look at you like you’re speaking ancient Hebrew when you ask them even the simplest questions like, ‘what’s your name?’

He also does absolutely nothing about the thousands and thousands of unlicensed non-smut boxes hawking everything from used cars to Spanish-speaking media either.

A beloved regular reader spotted him doing some very rare work and caused a 72 car pile-up by hanging a U-ey to snap this photo of him removing unlicensed Smutboxes in the southeast valley, but leaving the other illegally squatting boxes be. 

But this location is miles away from the county’s H-1 zoning district so one has to wonder if he’s doing this work for/against the mob-associated guys who own these things and who aren’t paying their required graft and bribes to public employees, doesn’t it?

The three remaining non-smut boxes on the sidewalk right-of way have no license stickers on them either…and they never did!

Oh wait, it gets even better!

In the City of Las Vegas, their Smutbox guy earns in excess of $80,000 too, and I kid you not, his primary job description is to ‘count cars’!

No really, I’m serious!

He’s the ‘Traffic Engineer’ charged with counting cars when Oscar Goodman decides he needs to have cars counted and they wonder why people are so frustrated with government mules like him!  He doesn’t just lay down the rumble strips across the streets that have the tire-counter boxes attached to them at nearby light poles; he literally stands there at times and manually counts cars!

Clearly, I’ve chosen the wrong career path! 

Remember these two bozos the next time the city or the county cries poor and desperate needing more taxpayer revenue! 

Both of these city and county jobs could and should be handled by the private sector at more than 50% less than what they’re screwing taxpayers for today. 

Virgie Valentine is clueless that her Public Works doesn’t work at all! 

Public Works has long been the county’s wasteful and terribly mismanaged premier patronage dumping ground!

All of my writings about the avalanche of Smutboxes that have overtaken our valley in recent years were inspired by a simple question an elected official asked of me in 2009 and grew from there.

The association of these boxes and all of their contents all have a very strong underlying taint and tangle of local domestic and Asian organized crime hiding behind a false First Amendment protection while squatting on our public ways for next to nothing in license fees; that’s when they bother to pay their required fees at all.

It’s only $65 per each box annually, but times perhaps 20,000 illegal Smutboxes all over the county, it starts adding up.

These for-profit boxes should be at least $500 per year for each box licensure and the county should intervene outside of the tourist corridor where the explosion of box proliferation continues unabated.

Add all of the non-smut boxes and the valley is estimated to have over 50,000 of these illegal, unlicensed, for-profit eyesores.

There are almost 40 of them at the intersection of Desert Inn and Maryland Parkway alone!

This section of the code clearly bars bolting these boxes to the public sidewalks, but all of them are bolted doing thousands of dollars in damages to the walk and no one says or does anything to recover the costs of repairs: 

16.08.170 – Standards for newsrack location in areas where permits are not required.

No newsrack shall be bolted, affixed or otherwise attached to any fixture located in the public right-of-way. No newsrack shall be bolted or otherwise attached to the sidewalk.

Again, Ms Valentine, do you have anything to say…at all?   Like why aren’t you vigorously pushing to license all boxes in all areas of the county to raise more much needed county revenue?

The First protects the ability to sell, buy, and to view sexually-oriented adult materials, it does not grant a constitutionally protected ‘right’ to distribute and solicit such for-profit materials on the publics’ way.  However, because Las Vegas and Clark County allow boxes that don’t even require a coin to enter them; the boxes are the constitutional equivalent of the people standing on the Strip bothering tourists with like materials.

There is also no constitutional ‘right’ for non-smut publications like The Las Vegas Weekly, Las Vegas CityLife, Orange Saver, Apartment Finder and others to illegally squat their for-profit publications on the public way either. 

So who’s fooling whom here? 

The city and county allow for both to give each other finger pointing ‘rights’ and the charade of the phony lawsuits and non-enforcement continues when we can ban all of them outright or bring all of them into compliance with a non-vague code to follow. 

The lawyers and groups who fight against any changes to the status quo are all major political donors. The America Civil  Liberties Union has pocketed something like $500K because the city and county never intended on winning and wanted to enrich their lawyer friends/donors and the ACLU with public money by engaging in previous charades instead.

The smut materials themselves very rarely change or are updated—it’s the same pictures and ads over 18 months collecting these things—and they’re printed by the same cadre of shady printers who apparently employ illegal immigrants at sub-standard wages with no benefits, and they in turn distribute/pimp these materials on bicycles and out of old jalopies when the weather turns colder.  They wipe down the Smutboxes and try to remove any graffiti on them; the only thing that warrants their removal from the sidewalks if  they bother to go out and check them at all!

Isn’t the chick on the rolling billboard a little bit chubby to be a Vegas ‘Hot Babe’, not that chubby chicks can’t be hotties like the chick with the gi-normous Moose Knuckle on the right!

Some of these people also act as ‘coyotes’ subcontracting these illegals to stand on the Strip aggressively annoying tourists and leaving tons of their unwanted debris on the walks and streets each and every day and night without so much as a citation—even though a phone number is on every single prostitution solicitation cards offered.

Some earn less than $20 for a shift that can last longer than 10 hours without a break or any adherence to  any state or federal employment laws ostensibly because they are ‘sub-contractors’; they stash their water and food under decorative plants and shrubs keeping a distant watchful eye on their belongings as they are scrupulously watched by their ‘owners’ who threaten to call Metro and ICE if they don’t aggressively work all of the males passing by. 

None are required to wear a photo ID with an employee number to cross check any particular tourist or citizens’ complaint; both the city and the county refuse to require this and the dark underworld on one of the world’s most famous streets continues to thrive completely unchecked, untaxed, unregulated, and unabated.

And they are a front for prostitution and these exploited illegal immigrants are pimps for people making hundreds of completely untaxed and unregulated millions of dollars each year because our politicians are too lily-livered to address this metastasizing cancer within our community. 

A retired IRS honcho here estimated that there is more than 1 billion dollars in completely untaxed and unregulated adult sex services industry money in Las Vegas and Clark County.

And they want to raise your taxes and mine without even touching these community leeches and sex-ploiters?

…and some politicos are also clients of these illicit services too, so are scores of county and city employees, even possibly the two gentlemen charged with enforcing city and county Smutbox codes and who are doing a really piss-poor job of it by any reasonable measure.
