No, I won’t speak ill of the dead, but I didn’t like Bill Raggio because of his 40 years devotion to Lobbyists/Jones Vargas and their issues in Carson City rather than what was best for his constituents and the state in general, and he and Kenny Guinn parented trying to replicate the California University System that took them 150 years to develop there in ten short years here, is nothing short of catastrophic.

What both men did was criminal to me and set into motion a voracious university system here that is never satisfied, never has enough taxpayer money, and never graduates even 50% of its enrollees even with amongst the cheapest tuition rates around.

It’s time to hit the brakes hard and end once and for all the folly of UNLV expanding onto another campus in North Las Vegas too; we simply can’t and never will be able to afford it!

…and always, always ask the EduCrats why there are no extension campuses here from BYU, USC, Stanford, Pepperdine etc… and then listen to their vitriol about how public is always better than private in university education.

Sorry, the University of Phoenix is just a diploma mill burdening tens of thousands with tens of millions in lifetime debt!

Raggio and Guinn created an EduMonster here that devours all in its path and doesn’t deliver tangible results for its enormous expenditures.

Work on getting credible private colleges and universities—not matchbook back diploma mills—and then you’d see the public system reform its obnoxious demands!

<-I spotted Metro’s badly failed Vice Lt Karen Hughes up at the Clark County Shooting Park Rifle and Pistol Range on their ‘Nude ‘n Shoot Day’ and including this picture of her in their ads may be the reason the park isn’t drawing the attendance they anticipated!

Personally, I wouldn’t use her pic in the ads for obvious reasons; are those horse flies around her gigantic love grotto?

Nope, Metro Captain Todd Fasulo doesn’t deserve to be a Captain or even a Lieutenant—he is where he is at for destroying careers over bullshit and for installing Microsoft and Adobe on department computers.

There are a number of persons and organizations investigating his wretched ‘leadership’ of the Convention Center Area Command—the man is an idiot and a disgrace to the star—which under him adopted the dated and 30 year old ‘No Broken Window’ Theory used ages ago in New York to justify daily constitutional violations of locals’ here in Vegas though the theory doesn’t call for that police misconduct—I’ve recently seen the photos of folks tracking/tailing Fasulo and his BS every single day—just to make himself look good with Dougie and DC Kevin McMahill and his Sgt old lady Kelly, who he and Mrs F and Todd’s various blowup dolls vacation with every year!

New Judge Carolyn Ellsworth trying to earn points to get elected to her appointed seat really screwed former DDA Shubert with a jail sentence that simply isn’t done here on first offenses.  Yes, he was in a position of great power, but Ellsworth had already agreed to the plea deal only days before and looks like a political opportunist and an unstable, erratic judicial mind for changing her mind only to get herself press attention.

Yes, I saw the Nevada Rail Plan put together by persons with little hands-on knowledge of Transportation and the biggest missing component is allowing the private sector—perhaps along with public investment—to construct a spur line from the BNSF’s trackage in Arizona through the Eldorado Valley to Las Vegas.

You’d see a literal explosion of economic activity in SoNev and see Nevada’s obscene rail rates drop 30% before construction begins!  The Union Pacific would fight such a spur line tooth and nail to protect its monopoly here though.

Consumers are screwed by this UPRR monopoly and no rail competition is one of the biggest impediments to economic diversification in Nevada.

No, it’s not personal for me regarding former LVMPD Lt Lew Roberts; it’s about honor and integrity and I do understand what the brass does to Metro folks who won’t or don’t tow their very corrupt line.

Lew wasn’t one of the bad guys but he was a company man and his silence enabled them and yes, I really do think that he should have gone directly to USDOJ in Washington—I tell all LVMPDers to never, ever go to the local FBI and USA—, and yes, Lt Roberts should continue to speak out now with the caveat that he must apologize to all of us for his silence all these years first.

A person of integrity would apologize to us and Lew has integrity; he just didn’t always act with integrity regarding his former employer’s corrupted dysfunction.

I’ve gotten the double confirms of what occurred with former Metro Lt Steve Menger’s DEA case and the fallout that blew up their entire Homeland Security Division and will write the epilogue on the story soon.

Yes, I also think that Henderson Police Chief Jutta Chamber—who I liked and admired— did the right thing stepping aside regardless that she was asked to do so; that’s what a leader does when things explode and/or implode on their watch.

You’d never see that at Metro; never!

All of the officers involved need to be demoted and severely fined too and I agree with DA Wolfson that criminal charges shouldn’t be pursued but that former DA Horses Ass David Roger should have done so.

<-Jutta was clearly not happy—I know she loved her job— about having to take the buyout, but the signal Chief Chambers sent will help COH’s Police Department heal and give residents confidence that though a very bad thing happened and no one was quick off the mark—that the conclusion saw public consequences—and their police department will recover and move on and the victim is encouraging that outcome too!

That’s how you do it Chief Chambers and thank you for your service and for doing the right thing.

Sallie Mae Not:  Sure, I’ll revisit the five years of hell I endured battling those assholes which resulted in their never being able to write another Student Loan, but you readers need to turn up the heat on your reps and return to borrowers the right for Bankruptcy judges to adjust or discharge these debts which is now the only consumer product so protected via the politicians in both parties Sallie Mae bought.

Get all in our delegation to take a position on this before you vote for them!!!

Look for Denis to seat Roberson in the back of the chamber by that weirdo janitor dude if/when he picks up seats in November!

Tale of Two Bobs:  Speaking of shots and beers, former Senator Bob Beers popped in to say hello and invited me to lunch which he has done for 6 straight years and has never come through!

<-I like Bob and though he is far to my right on some stuff, he does have a credible points of view and how well he was received at the GOP’s recent Lincoln Log Dinner indicates he not only has a strong brand, but deep affections.

Deep and strong are words you’d want voters to associate with you!!!

I’m supporting Bob Beers’ efforts for City Council Ward 2 today and will write about it before the election.

<-Also, the disintegration of Metro’s Homeland Security Division began under Chinn’s time there before his demotion for covering up an Lt’s  overtime cheating and he set into motion an intense culture of corruption within the entire division!
