Our Spoiled Brat Public Employees 6/4/2012

Wildcat strikes are illegal everywhere, but that didn’t stop North Las Vegas City Jail employees from staging a ‘sick-out’ recently ‘forcing’ the release of 70 non-violent offenders.
Here’s a Newsflash!: Those 70 shouldn’t have been jailed in the first place and the city’s jail should be permanently closed as should Las Vegas’ and Henderson’s facilities. We don’t need them or want them and the three facilities exist only to employ people who don’t give a damn about the cities which employ them as the NLV jail employees beautifully illustrated for all of us!
<–This gargantuan muni-jail facility in North Las Vegas is a shrine to the unnecessary and serves only to employ hyper-corrupted patronage employees and should be closed and sold off to help close NLV’s budget gap!
More than 80% of those incarcerated in NLV shouldn’t even be in jail under modern protocols!
Our public employee unions across the board here and around the country have bitten the hands that fed them—all the way up to the elbows!—for their votes and their union endorsements and the party had to end sometime and now is as good a time as any to at least permanently end pay and benefits from any public employee contract negotiation and no retirement benefits for any public employee before the age of 65…PERIOD!
It was a formula that was never sustainable here or anywhere else. People have been asking for years when the bottom was going to fall out as if there was ever any bottom with salaries and benefits always rocketing skyward for the last 20 years.
In North Las Vegas, rather than making concessions to save everyone’s jobs, their unions dug in just as the stupid Clark County Education Association union leadership did by insisting on binding arbitration that will cost more than 1,000 teachers their jobs because the arbitrator had no choice but to rule in favor of raises in the contract union officials and the CCSB signed.
<–And their union officials all earn hefty six figure salaries and mega-benefits paid by their memberships too!
Members are forbidden to even mention decertifying the CCEA, so stop paying your dues you big dumbshits!
It wasn’t the School Board that screwed teachers, it was the fat and happy teachers’ union that did it; it wasn’t the City of North Las Vegas that screwed city employees, it was their own unions who sold them out!
Of course, both NLV and the CCSD signed contracts they couldn’t pay for and kicked the can down the road for others to deal with too.
Watching Nevada’s carnival of public employee cannibals in recent years has me wondering where all the grown-ups have gone or if they were ever here.
They’d rather eat their own for breakfast than save everyone’s jobs with modest concessions and givebacks.
Smart, huh?
In Wisconsin where public sector unions were born, a futile recall effort is underway against their governor and others for daring to try to reign in these irresponsible compensation and retirement benefit follies for public employees who enjoy perqs and privileges non-existent in the private sector.
Governor Scott Walker completely erased a nearly 4 billion dollar deficit with his austerity plan and his opponent for the second time, Milwaukee’s mayor Tom Barrett, saved his city 20 million in teacher health care costs under the Gov’s measures in less than 2 years.
Wisconsinites are many things including cheeseheads and stupid Packer fans, but they know the value of a buck and have always been fiscally cautious if not conservative which is why Governor Walker will survive the recall effort handily—and he’ll win a 2nd term in two years too—because even traditional Democrats know what their Progressive Extremist brethren do not; when there is no money, everyone takes a hit.
If only Nevada were Wisconsin…or even Milwaukee!
Governor Walker has been politically courageous unlike my home state Illinois next door with an 86 billion dollar—yes, 86 BILLION dollar—public pension deficit! Nevada’s 12 billion dollar shortfall is 7 times smaller than Illinois’ but as a measure of population and number of employees, Nevada’s pension deficit should be 27 times smaller than Illinois’!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Nevada began each legislative session with a ‘zero-based’ budgeting model as other states do?
Not a word about that from any Republican in this state!
This from a 32 year partisan Democrat here; yet not a word from any Republican in the state on this common sense way to begin any budget process?
It’s the fashion today to blame NLV’s troubles on Mayor Shari Buck, but she isn’t anything more than a symptom and bears only 1/5th of the responsibility both as a former councilwoman and current mayor. She could sell the waste treatment plant and city hall, but that wouldn’t solve the underlying problem of greed across public sector unions in her city. Phony ‘reformers’ like Richard Cherchio were much more concerned with super-corrupt Gensler/Harris graft and getting a piece of that action and patronage placing his wife at the LVCVA, than with doing what needed to be done which is why he lost.

<–Secretly loving the other within that thin line between love and hate?
I don’t recall Buck, Cherchio, or the past or current council members volunteering to halve their salaries and benefits as a measure of good faith and equalized load bearing, so she and they are easy targets for the ill-informed and the stupid who reside in NLV!
The ill-informed and the stupid are the overwhelming majority of residents in North Las Vegas and the entire state of Nevada too!
The real blame in Nevada goes to former Governor Bob Miller and his reckless indulgence of public employees at all levels all over the state. For three terms he instilled and ensconced a public sector mindset that there was never enough pay and benefits for public employees in Nevada—they deserved to make hundreds of thousands per day paid by taxpayers if possible!—and today, those chickens have come home to roost and are shitting all over the sofas and living room carpets of average Nevada taxpayers.
<–Nothing smells worse than chicken shit, and nothing is worse than chicken shit elected officials in both parties!
Thanks Bob, you big asshole! You’re why we’ll never have a Dem governor in Nevada again too!
However, our state’s Republicans are more interested today in fighting about ostrich eggs than in developing the stake that will kill the Dracula that our public employees and their unions have become in Nevada.
<–Midget NV Governor Brian Sandoval takes a moment to hide from Horny Heidi while sniffing around some old lady vag at this local restaurant!
Even sitting, the old broads are taller than him!
No wonder he’s forgotten about making public employee contract negotiations ‘public’ as he promised in 2010!
Governor Sandoval is no Scott Walker or even Madame CJ Walker though he did call for public contract negotiations while running for Gov then seemingly forgot all about it after being elected. Pat Hickey is too busy praying to the Rev Moon to be of any value to anyone about anything—and Michael Roberson does just enough to keep the pot from boiling over without really committing himself or his caucus to pledge to do what needs to be done here first and above all else!
They’d rather sign Grover Norquist’s phony pledge instead!
He thinks he’ll go 5-0 in November and the likelihood of that occurring is zero if he were to take a courageous stand against public sector union greed like they did in Wisconsin and Ohio, today…when it really counts.
Smart, but not politically suicidal, would accurately describe the Nevada GOP’s Senate Caucus Leader. If the election were held today, he’d be just 1-4 because those feeding at the publics’ trough know how to take care of their own kind!
So scratch anyone in the GOP leading the efforts and holding all votes and all support for anything until open public union contract negotiations become the reality in Nevada.
To our teachers, I’ll ask why any of you stupid people are paying unions dues in a state where you don’t have to pay them!
They are all living large on your backs and you keep electing them back into union leadership and you keep paying them more and more too and you place no brake on them at all so they keep robbing and screwing you all!
And to my friends in North Las Vegas, you’ve been asleep (or drunk!) for decades and your sudden indignation is hysterical given that none of you said a damn thing when times were supposedly good and you still weren’t getting adequate city services!
<–I spoke with Sister Mary la Teet from St John Neumann parish up in North Las Vegas this morning and she told me she never paid any attention to anything in NLV other than trying not to fall on her face!
In the spirit of forgiveness, I think we should all cut the good Sister some slack given her particular burdens and crosses to bear, so to speak!
After the third grade, she could no longer see her crayons and dedicated her life to helping others!
…and of all of the current elected officials who represent NLV locally and up in Carson City; not a single one of you can say that you did anything to fix North Las Vegas’s retarded tax system which burns everyone in town…yet you’re all out there telling everyone how wonderful you are and how much you care about the town in order to be elected in this November.
<–Though he only loves a big ol’ FUPA (Google FUPA if you don’t know what it is!)–the only thing that gets his little motor running–Assemblyman Kelvin Atkinson took a moment to carefully study Sister Mary la Teet’s two BIG ’issues’ when she stopped by during the last session!
Not a single one of you did a damn thing! Yet, I was up for services on the West Side this morning and hyper-corrupted phony Kelvin Atkinson has his campaign billboard truck cruising the church parking lots telling everyone he is a ‘proven leader’!
Really, of what Kelvy baby?
I’d have fired him and everyone else representing North Las Vegas!
If NLV residents weren’t more concerned about Bingo and video poker, they’d fire you too!
If you’re looking for someone to blame for Nevada’s public employee arrogance and sense of entitlement, look no further than your nearest mirror!
Your apathy and collective delegation of your civic responsibilities to others is why we’re at this place today!
They all did what you allowed them to do, so stop whining and learn to live with your mistakes!
