Rails to Nowhere: Just as with the zero dollars from HUD, Nevada is completely shut out of high-speed rail by Obama, just as I told you that we would be.
The ‘most powerful senator Nevada has ever known’, my ass!
Harry Reid sat in silence and did nothing to save traditional Amtrak in SoNev in 1997 and he refuses to do anything to bring it back today, so why give his buddies money for a tourist thrill-ride?
The 2008 Reid Family All-Hillary Caucus still stings that badly and payback is a bitch back home; those people never forget anything!
It’s cost tax ‘donor-state’ Nevada hundreds of millions of dollars just in the last year!
He’s spending $22,000 per day toward his defeat and $22,000 per minute couldn’t save his political corpse.
**********
Prez SOTU: Yes, I thought he did a very nice job, he was comfortable and conversant and gently flexing the musculature of the presidency and if you were paying attention, running like hell away from both houses of Congress as his eyes are moving toward his own re-election by easing to his center.
We like the President and hate the Congress; he more than anyone else knows that and he’s played Congress like a Stradivarius, especially Harry Reid!
The President’s top SOTU job is to set the tone and tenor for the nation and I think he did a good job. This being an election year, nothing will happen but he can always tell us that he sincerely tried.
Sidebar: Yes, I fully agree that it’s become annoying that every single Organizing for America email dispatch contains a plea for more money and I think the 24-7–365 fundraising drive is turning people off in all 50 states.
**********
Sidebar: KTNV Channel 13 became the first television station in southern Nevada to have two intelligent political females offering post-SOTU political commentary (over 8 minutes yet!); Elizabeth Crum of the Nevada News Bureau, and Ronni Council of Organized Karma.
The entire valley is tired of seeing big, fat, old bald guys always doing that and Ms Crum and Ms Council were a very welcomed change from the same old stuff on the airwaves. I’m seeing a Sunday morning talk show with those two, aren’t you?
‘The Crum & Council Conversation’; I like it!! I’ll even produce it!
Gee, and it only took 90 years since Women’s Suffrage!
Kudos 13 for being the first in SoNev!!!
**********
Hillary 2012: Yep, her dropping the bomb that she won’t be around in a second term was expected by Obama’s Chicago people as we’ve previously written and most expect her to challenge him in 2012, but I’m not yet convinced.
Say hello to President Pawlenty if that happens!
**********
Healthcare DOA: Of course the bill is dead in its present form. Who could pass that garbage on their best day? When Uncle Harry is quoted saying ‘there’s no rush’, translated, that means they’ve already called the undertaker.
Sidebar: Check this Dina Titus quote where you’re hearing her real feelings about Harry Reid despite the retraction; our mailbox was full that morning; all GO DINA!
This is terrific stuff with an F-bomb too!! Dina, are you going to run against the SML? All of our readers want to know:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/32053.html
Rep Titus knows that the odds are not with her for re-election–the math just doesn’t add up for her today–and seeing that failed Speaker, Barbara Buckley, folded and didn’t give Dem lefties any reason to come out in the 2010 Dem primary; Titus would significantly boost the party’s left wing and could make the difference for the lower offices here by challenging Harry Reid!
Note that the national media refused to pick up the retraction too; not even Politico ran the retraction and they broke the story!!!

Goodbye Oscar!: Yes, I’m glad he’s out because one buffoon at the top of the ticket will do enough damage. Yes, I’ve seen his numbers and in Clark County they are terrific, however, just 50 ft north of the Speedway extending to the other 16 counties, they’re some of the worst I’ve seen and you can’t win with just Clark.
Plus Oscar, like his buddy Harry Reid, hates fat chicks and just like in New Jersey this year, you’re an idiot if like Jon Corzine, you ignore, or make fun of, the Chubby-Chaser bloc.
The ‘biggest’ voting bloc for both parties in America; pun absolutely intended!
**********
Illinois Primary: Yeah, the first in the nation primary is Tuesday in my home state and though I pretty much know whose going to win in both parties, what I’ll be looking at is turnout in key areas to see how bad our Dem drop off will be and how many new voters from last year that we’ve lost.
Preliminary indicators are very, very bad today.
**********
Delia Files: Condolences to the family of Delia Martinez who was one of the few people in the Dem orbit who you could really count on and who actually did work for the party! She will be missed!
Sidebar: Ken and Roberta Lange spied at the Porchlight Grille chatting up owner Tom Gallagher who I hope is giving them advice. Roberta deserves credit for letting Mike Selvage, another of the very few Dems who knows what he’s doing, revamp the ClarkDems website and refresh the email blasts—both are excellent work!—crisp, clean, to the point, and not mindless cheerleading, but brief and information-centric!
Why no one has ever bothered to honor you for your hard work here is a mystery to me Mike!
**********
Yes, I saw it and it’s a very good website for Jessica Sferrazza (Ralston-Reid-Rabbit) honey of Jon Ralston; she’s in ascent and he’s in steep ratings decline at his new station.
Cue the music for the next incarnation of ‘A Star is Born’ starring Jon and Jessica—Nevada’s favorite faux-reality show couple!
http://www.jessicasferrazza.com/
I’ll have the worst campaign & website in human history–right here in Nevada!–for you Tuesday!
**********
Auntie Jane Files: Yes, you’re right. Nevada’s oldest living reporter, the RJ’s Jane Morrison, who was in the embedded Press Corps at Appomattox Courthouse, blew Harry Reid a kiss about 17 of his appointments to various useless boards and commissions! Hysterical because only one of those positions has any real power (BLM) and those boards and commissions are patronage dumping grounds for Congress’ donors and are without any power at all!
They’re all window-dressing and Congress doesn’t listen to any of them, much less the President!
http://www.lvrj.com/blogs/morrison/Nevadans_hold_key_positions_thanks_to_Reid.html
Burqa babe, Heather Murren, on a useless Harry Reid committee
She praises Heather Murren, a consummate former Wall Street insider who sat silently as her husband, MGM-Dubai World’s, James Murren, went off making deals with Dubai World and Pansy Ho!
(one of my all-time favorite names btw!)
Even the notorious New Jersey Casino Control Commission wouldn’t tolerate that and is now demanding MGM-Dubai World end their relationship with Ho; the Nevada Gaming Control Board however, sees no problem at all with Ms Ho!
**********
Bobby G For President!: Over one hundred readers piped in about him and asked that I encourage him to seek higher office someday (soon)! He and I have long talked about that and folks, he loves his job, and he’s staying put.
If you’re a Dem seeking public office this cycle, you’d be very wise to ask Bobby G for his counsel! He’ll give it to you straight and won’t pump sunshine up your butt either.
**********
AD18 Files: Venecia Considine for AD18 is having a fundraiser at Potato Valley Café on February 10th. The café is owned by Ty Weinert who is an up and coming local business woman, the food is terrific too, she’s a very good woman, and so is Considine!
How come Ty isn’t on a ballot yet?
You fat-cat lawyers and candidates should throw some business to Ty; she’s right downtown and delivers too!
Call her and get yourselves a good meal: 702.363.7821

Speaking of Fat Cats: ‘Jelly’ Lake, a 247lb house cat—shown here in an unladylike position—took a liking to me at Craig Lake’s GOP campaign launch for CD01. Little kids and animals have always liked me and I’ve never been bitten by either!
**********
Kathy McClain Corruption Files: No, I tried and so did others, but Ms McClain doesn’t seem to think she should answer to her constituents what she was doing pumping $7200 from her campaign funds, apparently into her NVPERS pension account to fatten it up.

Remember that when you vote this year in Senate District 07 folks! Flush Kathy McClain and her dishonesty!
Yes, according to the IRS last week, Assemblywoman Kathy McClain is required to pay federal income taxes on that money or any other campaign funds she used for her personal comforts here or in Carson City and any person may file an IRS complaint to ensure her compliance.
Campaign funds are not tax-free slush funds for corrupted elected officials.
**********
Good Manners: No, no one in the GOP has given me a hard time when I pop up at their events to better inform you guys and I feel a welcomed guest and I have a lot of laughs because they’re just as messed up as we are…but nowhere near as anal about it as we are.
Sidebar: I was at the Sue Lowden campaign office opening and she and I had a nice little talk again–about 250 people and her big bus–and she confirmed what her people had told me last month that she will be on the air around 2/1-2/7ish.
Her campaign is becoming a well-oiled machine and her back-office–the most important part of any campaign, is gelling–Tarkanian’s is still sputtering and is more like Jello than gelling, hence his recent negative push polling.
With Rob Lauer out in CD03 and going after Ross Miller instead–the office we told Tark he could have won–is out, and the average GOP primary voter is going to be asking themselves if they really want to chance it on a guy who has never won an office and can’t manage his own business deals.
And yes, Lt Gov Brian Krolicki being labeled the ‘John McCain candidate’, will be fatal in a GOP primary.
Conservative GOPers can’t stand McCain.
**********
They’re Asking!: Bazillions of people are asking me for my vote and most of them aren’t even running, and no, it doesn’t count to ask by email, you have to do it in person!
4 have gotten my solid ‘yes’ too!

Rochelle-y, seen here practicing her new ventriloquism act with actor Gary Coleman.
Momala did come up and say hello to me!
Ruben Kihuen Files: Great kickoff Friday night–looked about 500+ people to me–with plenty of stuff to comment on so I’ll give him a whole column very soon! Rochelle-y even came up to me and said ‘hello’, yet I never got an invite to her birthday party–though I really enjoy cake–and even though my piece on her heading up the Dem Party soon is a runaway bestseller on our little blog!
The#1 political blog in Nevada, by the way…thanks to our loyal readers!!
Today is my Grandpa’s 97th birthday and if I have those genes, you’ll be enjoying me for another 50 years!!
