<–Dem maven Brad Mayer scored a career making Mayoral win in Las Vegas and assisted me greatly during my first Papal Election management this year!!!

He was mostly there to get Damned to Hell for our team had we lost because Jesus don’t like to lose the big ones and neither does Brad!!!

So I take a call from Argentina but this was from the country, not the lady I know down south in Florida, but not that far damn south like to Buenos freakin’ Aires-which translates to ‘Beautiful Air’ in Polish, but is a city that smells like feet and farts most days and you’re left wondering what these people are eating down there.

Score one for their local Chamber of Commerce people who took a negative and made a positive by naming the city something that has no basis in truth or fact—and my taking that call this past winter began my journey of running my first Papal Election along with Dem consultant Brad Mayer who I thought to invite along just in case my candidate lost and there was going to be hell to pay with Jesus and His gang—Mayer famously took an obscure unknown mayoral spouse and made her into a kind of Pope of Main St in Las Vegas—so I thought we’d need him in Buenos Aires and in Rome.

<–We did!

Jesus Christ, shepherding a future candidacy/papacy with egos that big was something to behold; I’ve dealt with prima donnas before but this was ridiculous and all that red on these Princes of the Church was getting on my nerves regardless that I was Confirmed into the faith at the hand of one of their old, long dead colleagues!

And while we were gone, Metro further deteriorated and the Bat Signal shone across the Roman sky calling us home to Commissioner Gordon’s office in Sin City.

First, the Lt Hans Walters murder/suicide event took me off my game as I had just met him late last fall on the Strip—his subordinates didn’t see it coming and neither did his superiors who ‘boiled him in his own juices’ according to one Patrol officer in that AC, and I tend to believe that because the El-Tee was one of a dying breed at the LVMPD who stood up against the slime and sleaze of the Doug Gillespie Corruption Regime and had a solid record going to back many years for many officers over his career.

Then the highest ranking female in Metro’s history, Deputy Chief Kathy O’Connor retired out without fanfare like Daddy Jett did while Dougie fell all over himself with media PR for Ray Flynn which made him seem Cardinal-like despite the grave damage Flynn did to the department late in his career. More on DC O’Connor in ‘The Women of Metro’ piece coming up too.

<–Old fave fat-f*ck Todd Fasulo (right, wife snickering at left) gets made a Deputy Chief and while that sucks donkey balls bigtime, now Deputy Chief Al Salinas moves up to the same rank and new position, a years long delay in his rising in rank despite his being one of their best guys.

This might also be a good time to apologize to humanity in general for VIP’s Steve Sanson—he of Big Betty H lovin’—for spouting off on Stanley Gibson when the Gibson family has an army of lawyers speaking for them just fine and everyone especially Steve Sanson missing so far that perhaps the reason that things went south during that incident was because another Lieutenant showed up and interjected himself into an already progressing situation/operation and that’s how the miscues happened—Desert Sky’s failures shone brightly here too—if anyone should be fired by the Use of Force Board it should also be that Lt from what we know today, dontcha think?

<–She digs uniforms from the UPS guy to the Orkin man and he digs chubby chicks and getting them chubbier so that they’ll never leave him!!!

Dougie’s butt-buddy Phil Roland of Harris Corp—owner of the system Metro dubbed Desert Sky is said to have gotten a 5 million dollar bonus form just for snagging the Metro account for Harris only moments after he retired out as a civilian from the LVMPD.

Not a word about suing Harris for their product’s failure that contributed to Gibson’s death either.

And during a break in all this drama, our ‘lil Douglas—the worst police chief in America—announced he’s going to run again because the Supremes said his and other offices weren’t covered under Term Limits and because US Dixon rose way too fast and isn’t Sheriff material yet and he lacks a public sparkle and didn’t want to retire with Doug to run around together naked in the woods.

Most people who ask me are surprised that I say what’s missing most under Gillespie is Bill Young; hate him though I did, he was a magnificent public face of the department when he had a couple (dozen) in him when he went on one of his media tear tours to rail about this or that

This is where Laurie Bisch and Bill Conger come into the picture and my having just run a successful Papal race, I’ve got it on Divine Authority that God is gonna smite both Bisch and Conger’s asses bigtime if their egos insist on having them run for Sheriff again in 2014.

He’s a little bit stiff so this is harder than it may seem!!!

That said, I like them both though poor Bill Conger will seemingly do or try for any available job these days having recently been seen at the Home Depot in Henderson hanging with the day worker guys to get out of the house a bit. This is common in couples who are suddenly together after years of different things going on in their marriage; Bill suddenly discovered Alexis likes doilies and frilly girly things when he has a more lesbian sensibility, and she discovered it really was Bill who was fartin’ their house up so badly and not their dog who got the blame. and all he has to show for it is a bigger ass-dent in his favorite chair and 73 bird house he built to pass the time when I could have been making him millions as Vegas’s ‘go-to’ guy for fun guerrilla safety tips for tourists etc…in an ‘Ask the Chief’ series of entertaining safety related 2 minute drop-ins for the news, in room, and YouTube type programming.

<–Another option is a different tact for ‘Ask the Chief’ and this one would involve discussing ladies lingerie in the middle of the Strip for two minute segments. Conger is slightly pervy enough looking that men would automatically go to him for advice on what to buy their lady and what she’d look and feel good in and women would salute his taste and rascally qualities that only an old pervy guy can get away with and still be thought charming, and cute by the fairer sex!!!

Chief Conger let’s talk about a future in a venture you can really win big on-media— ‘cause the sheriff thing’s not there for you.

…or for Patrolperson Laurie Bisch; what she’s up to these days as the only female working at the LVMPD—at least the only woman we know about publicly (again see future ‘The Women of Metro’ piece!), she’s going to be harder to place in an alternate career and not as easy as Bill Conger would be to place as Chief Slick—Celebrity Cop!

The idea is to get the 2014 field to clear some decks and coalesce around a strong, credible candidate voters want to take a look at and Douglas has given he or she a ton of ammunition to fire directly at him throughout the entire campaign.

This will mean a lot of police managers are going to have to come out of the shadows and background and publicly support a candidate you all know can kick Dougie’s ass and be public about your support too. The irony here is that had Conger and Bisch talked a deal in 2006, one or the other would have beat him the first time out and be our sheriff today—divide and conquer quickcourse back then—neither has a prayer to ever beat Doug Gillespie, so neither should get into the 2014 race because both will be spoilers and re-elect the worst police chief in America today.

Glimmers of interesting things are happening behind the scenes today at the LVMPD lead by those determined to retire Gillespie for good and at this point all we can do is hope…

…and pray Bill and Laurie get the message to take a pass on 2014.

<–No one cares anymore that Rory Reid played with matches–a lot–as a kid!

He did a damn fine job as Chairman of the Clark County Board of Commissioners and the Fire Department was never called during his tenure!!!

Keeping an eye on the quieter ones in politics is a theme I have revisited many times on the Dawg. It’s been my experience over more than three decades at this sideline that those who draw the least attention to themselves are generally the most effective—and powerful—persons in political life at any level.

Case in point would be the newest member of the Clark County Board of Commissioners, Mary Beth Scow, elected in a landslide in 2010 to replace Rory Reid who has fallen completely off of the political radar since his terrible performance as the Dem nominee for Governor that same year.

<–Unreliable sources have told me that Rory Reid is now selling moccasins, turquoise jewelry, and notions commonly found in local Smoke Shops (bongs, rolling papers etc…) from a dusty dirt lot in the southeast valley these days!!!

As truly awful as Rory’s campaign was that year, I have bent over backward to give him his props for being the steady hand and calm, droll and dry, razor-sharp at times very funny, head of the CCBC when he headed it after 4 members headed to federal prison for their shit while serving (themselves!!!) while there.

I like being around Rory Reid and I don’t think anyone besides myself has attempted to give him his props and publicly thank him for steadying the most tumultuous time in the Board’s history.

You don’t pull stuff like that out of your ass and the man knew what needed to be done…and he did it.

His tenure was exemplary and he really did taxpayers and citizens a tremendous service by instilling order and even integrity back to the second most powerful Board in the state.

<–True, Rory Reid is a tall and skinny guy that at 3^rd grader could be up and I often have the urge to stuff a bacon double cheeseburger down his throat to fatten him up a bit!!!

But he’s the good guy in that family whose advisers sold him a bunch of hooey to run for an office he simply could not win because of who and what his father is and who his GOP opponent was.

But, he chose to run anyway and former School Board Trustee, Mary Beth Scow couldn’t be beat and was ‘anointed’ into the District G seat he vacated. She had the Reid Family’s blessing, the Jim Gibson Wing of the party, the Mormon Mommy Mafia behind her, the wisdom gleaned over 12 years on the School Board, and the votes of her 647 children too!!!

<–Where her former School Board colleague and current CCBC Chair Susan Brager couldn’t be bothered with her constituents and busied herself with crossword puzzles, knitting, yawning, and grocery list making; Scow is accessible and approachable to her District’s residents and they like her!

Normally one of the quieter ones on the Board, she does get a burr in her brassiere every now and then and had herself in a tizzy this past fall over an ancient Guns and Roses poster of a painting; she must do such things as a founding member of the MMM, so we can overlook that kind of thing that harms no one and gives her some media attention.

But today, there’s a surprising schism developing in the race to replace the useless Susan Brager as Board Chair between the two Commissioners who are running for the title and all of cash, prizes, and lifetime supply of Rice-a-Roni that comes with it!

That would be current Vice-Chair Steve Sisolak and Commissioner Tom Collins.

The current body count is 3-3 with Mary Beth Scow ‘undecided’ per sources close to the action and that is an enviable spot to be in for someone just two years parked to the far right of your screens during those boring meetings on channel 4!!!

<–Mrs Scow is the one who looks like Paula Deen for those of you who don’t know her!!

What surprises me is that Collins isn’t cruising to the Chairmanship with a 6-1 vote given that none of the current seat occupants would be parking their asses on the CCBC without Clark County’s powerful Big Labor bloc’s assistance and more importantly, Big Labor’s money.

…and Tom Collins is the Dean of Big Labor in Clark County there is no doubt about it.

Talk about biting the hand that fed all seven of them, huh?

But there’s more going on than meets the eye. Some would say that because Sisolak is Vice-Chair that he is ‘next in line’ but that’s bullshit. He’s only in his first term beginning his second and Collins was first elected in 2004 giving him ‘seniority’ in union parlance.

But this is about personalities and especially about unions vs County and who best navigates tough wages and benefit reductions for new hires—across all county hiring jurisdictions— to try to get budgetary control of runway, unsustainable generosity from a revenue pool that just can’t support it at such high levels anymore—amongst scores of other issues.

I like Steve Sisolak—sometimes—and especially when he’s not dating nutcases—but he has all the finesse of a toddler and couldn’t build a bridge across a puddle—but he does talk a good game and also has a cadre of really strong detractors that would love a strong challenger to knock him off—believe me, they are working to find that person right now too!

<–This Henderson woman, Yvonne Illcutabitch, told me after she completed disemboweling a hedgehog, that she’s really interested in dating Commissioner Sisolak again!!!

I always get the feeling around Steve Sisolak that he’s just gonna go off one day and start suing every one of us, don’t you? He’s not ready to be the Chair; I know that, you know that, everyone in the county knows that…except Steve Sisolak.

Tom Collins is Tom Collins—you definitely know what you’re getting with him and who better to maneuver those rank and file wage and benefit matters than the Dean himself?

Do we really want the most strident antagonist on the Clark County Board actually leading the Clark County Board with Steve Sisolak as Chair?

Plus, Commissioner Collins gives political cover to all six other members just by the power of his personality whereas Commissioner Sisolak as Chair leaves a lot of members naked, exposed, and vulnerable—not necessarily for their current offices, but for their future ambitions and that of those in their orbits too.

If Collins wants the headaches, headlines, and heartaches, he’s certainly entitled to his shot and his colleagues on the CCBC should be able to see the wisdom of letting him have it for the gifts of political cover his Chairmanship would provide to them regardless of how they may feel about him personally.

<–I don’t care who the hell you are, all politicians need political cover from time to time and political wiggle room too!

Even Jesus had 12 guys in His posse to deflect the Hebrew and Roman Press Corps–the RJ of His day!–while He was doing all those miracles and attending weddings in Galilee and Cana!!!

Tom Collins ‘aint the Lord, but no politician in this state gives more political cover to fellow Dems than Commissioner Collins does…so he’s earned and deserves the Chairmanship if he wants it!!!

Be careful what you wish for and all of that is in play here too for Tom Collins.

…and if they’re smart—no sure bet on the CCBC—Commissioner Mary Beth Scow’s tie-breaker vote shouldn’t even be necessary with a 6-1 win after they’ve reconsidered the great benefits to them a Collins Chairmanship would bestow and him under the Electron Microscope that is the Chairmanship of the Clark County Board of Commissioners should be reward enough for his enemies, dontcha think?

If they’re less than smart—a surer bet on the CCBC—then Mrs Scow should cast her vote for Tom Collins and not risk alienating Big Labor in her freshman term considering she’s probably not the only member of that giant clan that wishes to be in public office and she and Collins are fellow Mormons and have worked very well together on things like the NLV sewage plant effluent and other issues.

<–Steve Sisolak—a Catholic with ‘unusual’ dating tastes and habits—may even offend the woman who got so upset over a 26 year old Guns and Roses promotional poster recently!!!

Mary Beth Scow is likely to respect Collins’ influence with the party’s deep pockets and GOTV efforts on her behalf and cast her vote in deference to that alone.

Either way this falls, Commissioner Tom Collins will be the next Chairman of the Clark County Board of Commissioners and I think he’ll be a good one too and certainly fun to watch as well.

<–Whew!

It’s been a wild ride these past six weeks or so as stepping up and in for a good friend in need has proven a daunting challenge and one that I wasn’t up to the task without their family caring about or supporting him and I couldn’t even get you guys your WatchdogWag fix!

First, my 99 year old Grandpa—on life’s 1 yard line!—hasn’t been feeling well and my lovely family left him lying in a hospital bed for 26 hours, too ‘busy’ with other things, I guess, to be bothered with him on Christmas Day, no less! No one even bothered to call and tell me he had taken ill for the first time in 99 years.

Even my normally dependable sibling couldn’t be bothered and thought that dinner was more important!!!

He’s not sick, he’s 100 years old—that’s damn old!! He’s better now but I wouldn’t be taking out any 30 year mortgages now if I were him!

<–Whew! I am exhausted!!!

My two selfish siblings in Chicago are just human-garbage and always have been. They’ve left my 75 year old father who is seriously injured there to fend for himself and thankfully my old friend Lisa Madigan—IL’s Attorney General—will now take the issue—and both of them—on for me.

Thank you Lisa, tell your Pops (IL House Speaker Michael Madigan) I said ‘hey’.

Second, the President of Liberia piped in with a complaint about me using her image!!!

OK, I was offered a job in Africa earlier this fall in the heart of West Africa’s ‘blood diamonds’ region to do Logistics for a firm from Northern California extracting what are known as ‘rare earth minerals’ for shipment back to the US, likely in the Houston area.

The Chinese the world over control virtually all of this stuff that nothing can be made without and stuff like murder, high seas piracy, bribes, graft etc…are the hallmarks of the global trade in this stuff; it’s that damn valuable!

I’m from Chicago dammit, and from mob-dominated Transportation; that kind of thing was an everyday occurrence for me anyway!

No biggie!

Indian Jones I am not, however. I was not in the mood to contract Malaria either which all involved told me that I would get at least 5 times just on my first trip over there this winter.

As most Dawg readers know, virtually the entire African continent is now a suburb of China and they are blood thirty bastards robbing and raping the vast majority of African nations to support their overheated economy leaving virtually nothing behind for the nations they are exploiting.

Everyone hated European Colonialism there but not a soul the world over says a word about Chinese Colonialism there today.

Plus, I don’t speak Chinese and can barely speak English!!

So, I decided to jot a letter to Liberia President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and inquire about this company that had offered me a position that would use her nation’s resources and its ports.

<–Madame President is not Dem Derek Washington but I think that they look alike and she and her people were none too pleased with me using her image to represent him!!!

In all fairness though, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s beard is much fuller than Derek’s is!!!

I actually met her about 27 years ago at one of those Council on Foreign Relations soirees in Chicago when former IL Senator Adlai Stevenson III suggested I become involved with their Lefty Look at Everything organization to ‘broaden my worldview’ and he sat me at a table with all sorts of low-level dignitaries from the Motherland of Us All!!!

Talk about being far outside ones comfort zone!!!!

<–This woman cared a lot about other people’s shitting habits and she told us all about it for the Phillips Milk of Magnesia company of fine ‘help you shit’ products which apparently Madame President never saw or heard about!!!

She was working for HSBC, Citibank, and the World Bank when I met her then and she wasn’t the most pleasant person I’d ever come across and appeared that evening to all of us at the table as having that ‘not so fresh feeling’…or being constipated!

Her having recently had sat her fat ass in a Liberian prison for Sedition then was the more likely reason though! One thing I remembered noting then was how damn fat all the African ‘dignitaries’ were that evening when their nation’s people all looked like they hadn’t eaten in years!!!

Long story short, the African opportunity did not pan out and I think that Madame President also has the hots for Coolio just like Derek Washington does which is why her office decided to respond to my query in the first place complaining about me using her image for my Vegas satire.

<–Take a pill lady or I’ll sic Yvette Williams’ fat ass on your fat ass!

During all of this, I am caring my friend’s Staffordshire terrier while he cannot with zero-support from his family headed in Orlando with branches in SoCal too. I like the dog, but he eats like a horse and shits like an elephant and does not like any other dogs and it is nearly impossible to find temp housing that will take a 96lb lapdog no matter how creative one gets trying.

…and believe me that I have tried everything!

It’s very much like caring for an infant. I’ve tried every ‘no-kill’ shelter and boarding joint in the valley and was lectured for my being an ‘irresponsible pet owner’ when this isn’t even my dog by all but one and any of you who write checks to the ASPCA should do your homework on what this vile organizations does and says in Las Vegas with the NASCPA…and with your money.

<–Don’t give them one thin dime folks and then ask yourself how they are affording 24/7 commercials with Sara McLachlan singing that annoying song!

Next time you see this bitch, please punch her out for me!!!

Please help me find a temporary home for this mutt and much will be resolved here! I will tell you about the only good organization I found at a later date.

<–During all of this and much more going on in my personal Solar System, I reconnected with a little boy I came to know a while back who loves Cheese Crackers and has no positive male influence in one of the most f’d up families I have ever come across here.

Drugs, alcohol, babies having babies and no structure at all and this little kid looks at me like I’m somethin’ special and all he wants from me is some Cheese Crackers!

Of course, he’s getting far more from me than that, but I wonder how this is happening when billions are flowing freely within walking distance of where he and his dysfunctional family reside. There really are no children in Las Vegas and even fewer fathers of those children either. This little boy, already written off by the Clark County School District, has learned how to read in 10 weeks with Hooked on Phonics, some Cheese Crackers…and me.

My acclaimed ‘observational skills’ took a major beating these recent weeks as I had been looking and but not ‘seeing’, hearing but not ‘listening’, and that in turn resulted in a lot of self-reflection and assessment and a doubling down on what the WatchdogWag Project will tackle in 2013.

I’ll jump right back into Metro, Politics, Obama’s failures to lead etc…but we’ll also look more deeply into why this is the very Worst City in America by intentional design and how and why we’ll never get a handle on things here because more than any other place in America, we simply don’t give a shit about anything here as we sit in comfort behind our walls and gates.

It’s good to be back as the pain-in-the-ass to those in power I was born to be!

Kissing your sister is perhaps necessary at family events, but there’s nothing sexy in doing so and certainly no tongue is involved and that’s how voters perceived Mitt Romney and when it was all said and done, voters chose the asshole that they already knew to be in their living rooms for the next four years over the guy they didn’t want to kiss.

<–This is the SS Romney sinking in the harbor last summer!!!

Mitt Romney’s campaign ship sank in the harbor and never got out to sea and it’s the GOP’s bottom-feeders and opportunists who pocketed hundreds of millions of donor dollars knowing full well that voters didn’t have an appetite to fire the black guy and that their nominee was going to do it his way listening only to a handful of his ‘yes’ men and that was that.

Three million GOPers who voted for McCain in 2008, simply stayed home in 2012—they didn’t want to kiss anyone this year!

…or even shake his hand!!

So very little changed this election that voters were saying let’s keep it just as it is and hope for the best.   We trust divided government something the Founders wanted as well as the branches being checks on one another. Few regular voters can articulate this or their reasoning but we know when one party controls everything that the spending orgy is that much more intense. The GOP hard-asses were so anti-Obama with a dose of Bush43 amnesia that they chose not to remember that their guy racked up 10 trillion in debt in 8 short years and they chose to blame Obama for all that ails us including his adding 40% more debt to China.

<–This chick was arrested by Boulder City police for killing the woman behind her when she squatted before voting and shot out turd that blew a six inch hole in the victim’s chest!!!

The people I talked to over these months simply pretended that all that occurred before Barack Obama simply never happened and that everything was rosy the day before Obama was sworn in and that he ruined everything! Those who supported Obama were oblivious to the many faults and failures within their guy and would only see what they chose to see in him.

I told you last month that Obama would be re-elected and instantly become the weakest Lame Duck president in our history.  The US House, where our Founders intended the rough and tumble to occur and where the Constitution requires Bills to be Born is now politically stronger than it has been in my entire lifetime.

Completely missing in all the post-election analysis is this extraordinary fact; the GOP actually scored the night’s most important victory in holding on to the House and consolidating their power in that body.  Look at it this way, it’s as though the presidential election ended up in a tie and Speaker Boehner became the President under the Constitution.

Speaker Boehner holds all of the cards; Barack and Harry are his bitches and they both know it and the Speaker is one of the biggest SOBs and assholes on Capitol Hill and he knows what he’s doing and how to get what he wants.  The problem for de-facto President Boehner is that he can’t control some of his more extreme members because he has little to threaten them with but just the fact that he can threaten Committees and their Chairs and who sits where and why he puts them there should consolidate his powers even further.

The GOP House majority is going to rightly demand all that they can get for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid completely blowing their body off over the last two years and refusing to bring to the Senate floor anything that they sent there. Harry wouldn’t even allow straight up and down no amendments dog and pony show votes that his body could have easily beaten back and Obama and Reid will pay a stiff price for their complete disregard of the GOP House these past two years.

<–Speaker/de facto President John Boehner of Prickville Ohio knows the game and is very good at it!!!

When you saw Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid on 60 Minutes before the election that wasn’t some magnanimous brotherly comity you saw, it was both leaders trying to look relevant now because neither will be for at least the next two years as everything that needs to get done or what anyone wants to get done is all in the Speaker and his House members’ hands.

That’s why the Speaker had a slight grin all Election Night long and took to the podium as soon as he could; for the next two years he is the most powerful person on the planet and everyone knows it.

…especially Speaker John Boehner himself!

<–President Obama is already a cipher and a footnote in history as he’s got nothing to accomplish anymore and he will suffer the ‘Second Term Curse’ other presidents did and he’ll probably be living on the golf course for the next four years!

He is likely to have at least another Supreme Court justice to appoint and he’s hoping that that occurs within the next two years while he has a majority in the US Senate and where ‘President’ Boehner and his House majority has no say so at all.

From a distance, one would think that GOP Senate Caucus Leader Michael Roberson went home and kicked his dogs after Tuesday’s results—he did not and he loves his dogs even more than he loves Mark Hutchinson!!!—and if you were to remove a locally popular president, he may have gone 5-0.  The guy likes to win and hates losing, but I don’t think he takes Tuesdays results as his failure—nor should he—but more as sowing the seeds of the future for him though he refused to own all of his senate candidates and told me that he was only working on the Big Five which isn’t how leading a Caucus is done, so a few of them said and did stupid shit and mailed politically retarded pieces that reflected poorly on the state GOP as a whole.

Details do matter and one must rule all those under their tutelage with an iron fist or risk dragging down the whole party and its candidates all over the state because no one is paying attention to their nobody candidates.

Sidebar: In a case of be careful what you wish for, Roberson may rue the day he recruited Mark Hutchinson who is not a team player and is adverse to being subordinate to anyone.

Roberson getting involved with the Assemblyman Andrew Martin residency non-issue may indicate he was more concerned with things other than Steve Kirk’s race and now Roberson gets to look at the woman he defeated two years ago instead!!! I called his races correctly at 3-2, but I thought that Kirk would be in the winner’s column.

I think Mr Roberson thought so too.  Not tending to his own flock and being more concerned with knocking Marcus Conklin and Andrew Martin off in the Assembly rather than securing a Steve Kirk win in the Senate shows that even the smartest among us can do dumb things if we fail in the details which Roberson delegated entirely to consultants who failed him.

I’m guessing he’ll not let that happen again.

<–NV Senate Majority Leader Mo Denis doesn’t look like much but he’s a smart guy…savvy too!!!!

That said, Mo Denis almost knocked off Greg Brower and scored the Halseth seat too and I told you before, Denis doesn’t look like much and Sheila Leslie and Joyce Woodhouse would kick his ass in a bar fight, but in politics, the very best and the very smartest are also usually the quieter ones and Denis’s switcheroo with his candidates up north early on was a masterstroke and was the most savvy political move I’ve seen here since moving here full-time a decade ago.

Both Denis and Roberson are master strategists and are well suited rivals to plot and plat the future of the state and I’d bet neither of them really gave a damn about Mitt Romney or Barack Obama which is a hallmark of their respective leadership abilities in the State Senate.

<–Governor Brian Sandoval (airborne right) is an athletic guy and he’s also a midget who really enjoys going to Reno bars for Midget Tossing events…and he wins most nights he competes too!!!

In analyzing how this all played out, it is notable that both Roberson and Denis were surprisingly deferential to Governor Sandoval and his low key approach and governing style, not to mention his popularity and affection with voters in both parties.

That doesn’t mean they’ll all be holding hands and swaying back and forth singing Kumbaya during the 2013 session, but it does indicate that Sandoval has further consolidated his power and influence over the Carson Critters and the state’s general direction.

The biggest winner of the night wasn’t even on the ballot and Governor Sandoval firmly established himself as the undisputed leader of the state in Tuesday’s aftermath by largely staying out of the presidential race and all that could have harmed him if he had spent more political capital than he did.

Smart guy our governor and those attaching themselves to his expanding coattails, even smarter.

This election year has been an odd one to watch for me.  I avoided most events unlike 2010, because I wanted to stand back and gauge the machinations of the parties and candidates and concentrate on voters this time given my own apathy and exhaustion of the politically poisonous atmosphere on both sides.

I surprised myself by how many Republicans got my vote this year and after Mitt and Dean, the momentum just kept going for me—I was in a ‘firing’ mood and the only Dems I voted for out of the top offices was the likeable and very good man Benny Yerushalmi who has the best smile in Nevada politics and his campaign actually listened and emphasized the ‘Benny’ rather than his surname so now he’s like Cher, or Elvis…or God!!!

His GOP opponent Mark Hutchinson’s scorched earth campaign and the obscene amount of money he sunk into the race should trouble everyone.  He approached his race like a trial lawyer, strange for a Republican whose party hates trial lawyers!

I also very reluctantly voted for Dina Titus Castro Chavez!

GOP Caucus Leader Roberson has proven himself an awesome fundraiser and he should do well Election Night; he told me over the summer that he intended to go 5-0 and that isn’t likely—3-2 sounds more likely to me.  With that kind of fundraising prowess, Roberson has to take the reins of the entire state GOP or it will all be for naught. In a Nevada GOP back office without any credible leadership, he’s the only one who has demonstrated that he knows what he’s doing.

The unwritten rule between the parties that you don’t shoot directly at the other side’s leadership was flushed and Wes Duncan is now Public Enemy #1 to all Dems—even more so than Roberson now!—and he will have a target on his back for the rest of his political life for listening to Hickey. I don’t know what Pat Hickey was thinking because had he spread the risk around a little bit, he may have picked up some additional seats for his perpetually-in-the-minority caucus.

I still don’t think that Mitt Romney is going to win because their waiting until beginning a 4^th quarter strategy of dropping saturation cluster bombs doesn’t work on the national level and he has a couple of idiots on the GOP Senate races side that are anchors to overall perception and performance in the battleground states.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think I am.  Obama will be re-elected and instantly become the weakest Lame Duck president in our nation’s history. The House will remain GOP but the Senate should have been a landslide for them and they nominated a bunch of assholes and their guys in IN and MO have defined the GOP Senate which may turn out to be a 50/50 proposition with Biden being the tiebreaker.

That sounds like another four years of paralysis to me and to global financial markets that are already overreacting as they always do when uncertainty clouds their judgment.

I was amongst the first writers in America sounding the alarm bells about Obama long before he completed his first year in office—and he’s gotten ‘progressively’ worse, arrogant, and dismissive with each passing day—and Obama related pieces here have been thermonuclear hot in recent months basically telling the same things Bob Woodward tells us in his recent book ‘The Price of Politics’ which is a must read for persons in both parties.

My voting station decision was based on competing records of accomplishments and failures and Romney has had significant accomplishments not the least was being a Republican and elected governor in Massachusetts and untangling the corrupted SLC Olympics, and Obama has had an adult lifetime of nothing but running for office:

• He’s never made a payroll
• He’s never created a private sector budget and failed three years in a row to send Congress a budget as is required of him by law
• He’s never tried a case

The last point is especially directed at you Birther idiots who’ve never quite grasped that each and every person who has ever attended Harvard University makes it a point to inform complete strangers within 30 seconds of meeting them that yes, they did attend Harvard…and then they whip out their transcripts to show to you!

His stunning arrogance in dealing with Congress is explained by his having spent about 20 minutes in the US Senate before embarking on his run for the White House.  I’ve told you before that he never did a damn thing in Illinois and people like me and Chris G and other former Chicagoans find it hysterical that right-wingers call Obama part of the ‘Chicago Machine’ when no true student or soldier of our ‘Machine’ would ever be so impractical, non-pragmatic, nor indelicate and openly hostile to the other side of the aisle when it’s time to cut the damn deal on things.

Throughout his entire campaign for re-election, President Obama has never once said that he’ll do major housecleaning if he wins reaffirming his belief that there’s nothing wrong with his team, his policies, or his approach and that surrounding himself entirely with academic egghead types and not a soul around him with any real experience in the real world or in the private sector is the way for us to continue ‘Forward’ after theirs and his four years of failures.

Are you kidding me Mr President?

On the campaign trail, he’s never once mentioned that millions of Americans will lose their Unemployment Extended Benefits on December 31^st because of his failure to work with the opposition in Congress.

<–This Asian guy at the Meadows Mall tried and succeeded in nakedly voting for Barack Obama before being arrested for jaywalking in the mall’s parking lot!!!

It was more than an hour after he was arrested that Metro noticed he wasn’t wearing any clothes!!!

He inherited George W Bush’s 10 trillion dollar deficits and happily added over 6 trillion to the total with little to show for it. He spooked the entire private sector with ObamaCare, he did absolutely nothing to contribute to writing the bill, and he’s set into motion a future of tens of millions of part-time jobs to avoid participation in it by the private sector.

This is not a Democrat; this is a Progressive Extremist who doesn’t have a clue about what real people go through. Gas prices have hovered around $4.00 a gallon for his term because of his open hostility to Big Oil and his failure to act on and approve the Keystone Pipeline cost us thousands of high paying, largely union jobs and their associated tax contributions to the US Treasury! Food Inflation has been ‘progressively’—that’s not even a pun but intentional word use—worse each successive year; conveniently, both food and gas aren’t included in government inflation calculations going back more than four decades.

It’s not hard for one to imagine that Barack Obama never strolled the aisles of a grocery store or pumped his own gas and President Whole Foods hasn’t cut it.

No Traditional Democrat would ever be so damn stupid and tin-eared; it’s an everyday occurrence with the extreme far leftie Progressive Extremist types though.

<–If I were him, the only person I would keep around for a second term would be the White House Chef—the only one on his team worth a damn or even a shit.

The next four years are going to be an ugly proposition given the record of the past four years.

Heaven help us all ‘cause no one else is up to the challenge.

Former Clark County Chief Deputy DA David Shubert wasn’t an acquaintance or a regular reader here and he’s been in the news and he deserves some time here on the Dawg and so does Judge Carolyn Ellsworth.

The David Shubert I knew and saw down at the RJC wasn’t a lawyer hot dog hamming for the press or publicity like his superiors did and he seemed to be struggling with more than a recreational drug habit at times.  I thought he was a good DDA and fair too and I roasted appointed Judge Carolyn Ellsworth for her too tough stance regarding how she handled the Shubert matter differently than any other defendant in the county would have been handled.

Then I met Judge Ellsworth at an Obama Birthday party this past August; she sitting quietly alone by herself but within a big living room group at the home of Dem Derek Washington.  I didn’t go in for the kill or anything like that.  Some of you have misconceptions about how I go about this little Project and the last thing I want to do is make someone defensive or uncomfortable because if they’re like that, they’re not going to say anything worth giving a 2^nd look to.

<–Dem Derek Washington asked me to be kind to Judge Ellsworth at his party and I said I would as long as he gave me his recipe for the best damned greens I ever tasted.

He did not, hence today’s piece so blame him judge!!!

And that was true of Judge Ellsworth who has the very worst outdoor campaign livery I have seen in 32 years at this game of politics; judge, that is just awful stuff—your name looks like you’re in jail not the window blinds they’re supposed to be!

I came up and sat on the empty ottoman adjacent to hers and introduced myself and told her that I wrote some pretty tough stuff about how she handled David Shubert and first, she didn’t have a clue who I was, and second, she was pleasantly and graciously prepared to discuss her position.

…and discuss she did.

Her resoluteness of the sentence given to Shubert was disconcerting to me; that kind of imperiousness can be deadly on the bench and can literally sentence a judge to a lifetime perception of intemperance and political expediency—I didn’t want to think ‘George Assad’, but initially I did with Carolyn Ellsworth—and I was wrong in even comparing the two but Carolyn Ellsworth’s corrupted first public shot out of the gate will stay with her throughout her entire career.

Assad was a corrupted, owned, judicial sadist; Ellsworth has been fighting the powerful and entrenched over the course of her entire career and she was also a legal shill whore for MGM Resorts and has a well-rounded body of career work.

David Shubert was not her first tough stance either.

I don’t think she would think I’m unkind in noting a certain ‘mousiness’ about her, she’s a pleasant looking woman and dresses very nicely and not in those awful gray butch suits with a penis sewn in that our local female barristers believe they have to wear to be taken seriously at the RJC.  Basically, she doesn’t come across as the ‘tough, unreasonable bitch’ I’ve heard others call her; she looks like a content businesswoman at first glance.

I asked her why she was so hard on David Shubert and she told me that she has ‘major issues’ with those in power ‘flaunting the rules we expect everyone else to live under’.

<–I always got a Fred Flintstone vibe from David Shubert!!!

I said, ‘would that include you judge?  I mean suppose you or a loved one did something equally regrettable and self-destructive, are you saying that you’d want yourself and your loved ones to have the book thrown at you all too?’

She did pause and said that ‘yes, I’d expect any judge in the county to be just as tough with me and my loved ones as I was with Chief DA Shubert’.

‘Sure you don’t want to walk that back a little bit judge, you’re inviting every judge in the state to fry you and your family if they get into legal trouble and you’re saying that because you’re a judge, that that’s how it should always be with you and yours?’

She smiled and didn’t answer which opened the door for me to ask her about the ‘wisdom’ of her tough stance and she said she would not support David Shubert ‘losing his law license, but he should have a much higher threshold’.

‘His embarrassment and humiliation wasn’t enough for you?’ I said.

‘No, it wasn’t.’, she said

This conversation was many weeks before Shubert pulled his Shawshank in Mexico and there weren’t many of us who didn’t think that he would kill himself and when news of that broke, I remembered back to my very long chat with Judge Carolyn Ellsworth and what she must have been thinking that day too.

Her campaign narrative was written in the first person—by her!!! That’s almost always politically deadly with the potential for hubris which her self-written biography is filled to the brim with including this:

‘…Three decades of legal practice have taught me many things in addition to the law – among them patience, civility, respect for others no matter their circumstances, and empathy…’

…except apparently for one David Shubert.

Both the judge and the defendant have now done incredibly stupid and damaging things to themselves and I wonder if Ellsworth has it in her to recuse herself and let another colleague complete this matter—I think legal world ethics would absolutely require this because she became part of the story but I don’t think Carolyn Ellsworth thinks it’s now an ethical dilemma for her even if her conduct and overplay could have resulted in a defendant’s suicide.

She does not have the ability to self-assess, reconsider, or even admit that she’s ever wrong and that she went way overboard with David Shubert and that she showed zero judicial wisdom and zero ‘empathy’ she claims to champion in her campaign rhetoric.

She clearly loves the attention all of this has given her.  She wears it like a badge of honor and made no apologies to me or anyone else that evening.  ‘Miss Mousie’ turned catty for this ‘personal victory’ over Shubert to salve something empty and missing in her life is the impression I walked away with.

She supports Carolyn Ellsworth!

Both Shubert and Ellsworth have brilliant legal minds and the travesty in this matter would be should he never be allowed to practice law again and she thinking her failure to follow her own publicly stated campaign/professional edicts allows herself to forgive…and then congratulate herself which she always seems to be doing over this matter.

It’s jarring to observe how self-satisfied Judge Carolyn Ellsworth is with herself over David Shubert,  she behaves almost like a scorned and rejected lover who just got her revenge in spades.

There nothing to celebrate here Judge Ellsworth. A wiser judge could have thrown the book at Shubert in a variety of creative ways that would have for instance, required him to do a few years of Legal Aid or other pro bono work representing the very people he once prosecuted, to work with the addicts at WestCare, the crack Moms at UMC…

The thought never even entered Judge Carolyn Ellsworth’s narrow mind and though she has a very impressive resume and career track record, I have to wonder if she can ever have any level of professional, personal, moral, or ethical satisfaction if she doesn’t redirect herself to finding a much wiser and productive resolution to the mess she personally exacerbated by previously utilizing no wisdom at all and almost costing a human life in the bargain.

Yep, Uncle Mitt and Cousin Paul are in ascent and that should be good news for them and fellow GOPers up and down the ballot, but I still think they came to the party too late.

A lot of to-the-right readers had problems with Joe Biden’s performance during his debate with Paul Ryan, but that crankiness endears him to the near extinct traditional liberals and to the Dems’ caustic Progressive Extremist wing.

<–Biden is a smart guy who says stupid shit a lot, but when he’s focused and off the meds and liquor, he’s one of the Dems’ best on Foreign Policy having been on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee since the Harding administration.

Interrupting Ryan more than 80 times was rude but was the real Joe Biden who has been in power all of my adult life; his populist flair amongst Dems is the reason he was chosen as VP and Ryan had to walk a tight rope and not be disrespectful to a senile, doddering old man and he did the best he could in that regard.

That Biden continued to lie for the administration regarding Benghazi and the first loss of an American Ambassador since I was in high school was disturbing to me. They lied for almost two whole weeks about what occurred in Libya and of course, once again, Obama failed to fire the person responsible for perpetrating their Libya Lie:  UN Ambassador Susan Rice who should have been shown the door immediately or had the sense to leave on her own for lying to the American people, is still our rep at the UN today and this speaks to the President’s inability to fire anyone for anything.

…just like his predecessor couldn’t fire anyone either!

On 9/11 of all days, how can any US installation around the world not be on high alert?

What Biden did do was give Dem troops hope, what Ryan did was not damage his new boss; their debate was a draw and no one gives a shit about VP debates anyway unless there’s a perky dipshit from Alaska participating.

We wanted to see her at home, dirty dishes in the sink, Dr Larry’s socks and rubber underwear on the floor—his walking around in the background naked because 78% of Likely Voters suspect he’s a Nudist—their Slave Quarters for the servants, the kind of stuff she has in her fridge, how she hangs her toilet paper, where she keeps the economy sized supply of AstroGlide…

…and I’m not kidding either; thousands of Nevada voters would have forgiven her much more than her current sins if we ever saw the Shelley everyone looks at as their ‘dress up doll’ and favorite ‘celebrity politico’…and all these many voters who have spoken to me about this are right!!!

<–A Peccole Ranch regular Dawg reader sent me this pic she swears is Dr Larry doing his morning run sans clothes, but I don’t think this is him because Dr Lar has a flat flabby little ass Rochelle-y really digs and this guy does not!!!

But the black socks which are Dr Larry’s signature trademark even when he ravages his wife all over Queensridge, makes me think that this could be him!!!

I’d have done Rochelle-y in a series of 90 second spots ala Barbara Walters with her talking to us, showing us pics of the family on the walls, talking about all their shit and relating to us, talking about other stuff with a cup of coffee at the kitchen table, listening to her explain away the B&D room they may have…some family members would be nice too because she hasn’t told us a damn thing about any of them this year and she settled for DSCC production line crap instead.

Think about how smart this woman is and how bad her campaign has been; she’s let others who don’t know shit about her run this thing and she’s forgotten that her entire base and thousands of others would donate big bucks to spend a day with Rochelle-y at her home and office; she engenders a level of voyeuristic voter interest that no other politician in this state does.

To add insult to injury, Shelley Berkley hasn’t spent squat on local vendors and she shut out years long supporters and their firms while delegating all of her campaign millions to out-of-state interests instead of spending some of that with those who know her best right here in Las Vegas!

That’s not just stupid, it’s ignorant and disrespectful to those who were with her when she was nothing and they’re bitter and upset with her current campaign having ignored them all.

<–She is a ‘Real Housewife of Las Vegas’ to us yet there is no Vegas—or Shelley Berkley for that matter—in her campaign…at all!!!

And she knows this about herself; she knows her celebrity and she’s failed to use it this time reinforcing my always held view that she really doesn’t want a win or to be in the minority in DC and that the title of ‘chairwoman’ in the private sector sounds a whole helluva lot better to her today but still, you don’t leave your legacy to others in exchange for that and Rochelle-y has to do some kind of redemption tactic now so that the electorate’s final public view and memory of her is not written by her political enemies.

<–I secretly snapped DA Steve Wolfson and DDA Richard Scow for today’s piece and this is the only known shot of the two of them together!!!

DA Wolfson and Metro: It’s always best to assess and analyze what your opponent has done before engaging your big mouth in disagreement, but both Dougie Gillespie and the LVPPA’s Chris Collins did just that regarding the seating of a Grand Jury to look into the Stanley Gibson matter and Officer Jesus Arevalo and his literal overkill using some very heavy firepower to kill an unarmed Stanley Gibson shooting him 7 times with an AR-15 rifle at close range.

Sidebar: You folks interested in why so many OISs involve so many bullets being pumped into suspects are all looking at the wrong things if you’re concentrating on the officers who shoot like this when where you should be looking is at the officers who have not fired their weapons even in the most intense situations.

I’ve spoken to several officers who’ve come very close to discharging their weapons and did not.  Three of these men engaged in some of the most enlightening and intimate conversations I’ve ever had with anyone involving any subject and the fact that they did not shoot when the could have speaks to a variety of things they picked up along the way as officers and I’m really surprised the legit media isn’t seeking out guys like this to probe how their situations went down and why their perps are all alive today.

It’s also worth noting that no LVMPD female officer I’m aware of has killed a suspect and that too deserves scrutiny about how men and women officers assess situations very differently. (* a regular reader informed me of at least two female officers involved in OISs that predate the Dawg)

Back to Wolfson; I don’t believe he or anyone else is really seeking a felony indictment.  I think he chose the grand jury over a Preliminary Hearing so as to better engage in fact finding because the thresholds are so minimal with a grand jury.  He’s plowing brand new ground here and I’m willing to support his decisions because he has been so deliberate to date and that kind of professional thoughtfulness is not only necessary to Gibson’s family, but to Officer Arevalo and his family too.

<–This naked guy at Paradise Park loves everyone and he didn’t have an opinion about anything or anyone and therefore has been granted official status as a ‘Typical Las Vegas Voter’!!!

This Wolfson guy isn’t a typical Vegas Lawyer Lizard and is a reasoned and thoughtful man who I think we should give the benefit of the doubt as this progresses.

Plus, the likelihood of any kind of jury finding a criminal charge against a local police officer would necessarily have to have them consider if he had malice in his heart and there is no way that’s going to happen here or anywhere else.

That said, something went terribly, terribly wrong that December day and if DA Wolfson feels that the free-for-all that is a grand jury proceeding helps to answer the so many questions we all have, then it is to the DA’s well-considered credit that he chose what he feels is the best option available to us.

Whether or not he decides to share what they uncover remains to be seen as these proceedings are not public, but he has some wiggle room in making their efforts public to the degree that participant identity can be shielded but their testimony made public in a final report by his office.

Wolfson is not ducking this one either nor passing the heat off to underlings.  Which chair he chooses is unknown now but he will be there during the entire grand jury proceedings and that is very credible if not courageous of him.

The showdown between Wolfson and Roger—who retired and scurried away to the LVPPA apparently facing probable federal charges if he did not according to many at the RJC—should be worth the price of admission.

If David Roger is quiet and in the background, then all the rumors about his federal shit will become Gospel to many observers down there.

The current and former DAs in adversarial positions is something I’ve never seen and none of us in the county have seen quite like this either.  Look for national media interest especially if things get out of control and blubber-butt Roger becomes a part of the narrative because of what he did and did not do during his DA tenure.

Let’s jump into the Presidential Debate: OK, am I the only person who thinks it’s time to retire the senile Jim Lehrer who celebrated his 127^th birthday this year?  He’s supposed to be the moderator and he let the president run all over the debate rules and looked and sounded like Reagan in his declining years which were any year after Bedtime for Bonzo!

More than 67 million Americans tuned in, the largest audience since 1980 and 150 million saw bits on the news over the days afterward which on paper, should be terrible news for the badly failed Barack Obama and despite a bravura performance by Mitt Romney—who finally got and read the memo that he’s running for President of the United States and performed very well—may have showed up to the party too late to change much of anything…

…except lower down the ballot.

In states across the country, House and Senate GOP hopefuls got a big shot in the arm from Mitten’s credible performance—I use the term ‘credible’ loosely because he changed his previously stated positions often—but he was enormously successful in stopping the bleeding his retarded campaign was causing his own effort and the residual effects lower down the ballot too.

He elected Dean Heller, re-elected Joe Heck, and gave some hope to Danny Tarkanian who is clinging to every basketball fan who remembers 20 years ago UNLV glory.  More on he and Horsford coming up!

But Mitt Romney will lose Nevada and the presidency too…

The president didn’t do jack shit in the Illinois legislature, in the US Senate, or in the presidency. He’s a poseur, an actor, an opportunist and a player–he’s not a leader in any sense of the word.   He likes giving speeches and running for office, but he doesn’t have a clue about running anything—especially the world’s largest economy and he doesn’t have anyone around him who does either.

<–This Yerington voter, Ms Zelda Leavitt of the prominent LDS Leavitt family, told me she didn’t like Obama’s pouting and then she asked me to marry her which I declined!!!

It’s nothing but lefty academic eggheads and one only goes to eggheads for advice when one needs to know how to cook an egg because they don’t know jack shit and have zero practical experience. No one had been fired by Obama for all of the many, many, many mistakes and missteps (just like GW Bush!!!)—most notable the BP oil spill and Secretary Salazar or Homeland Security’s total failure Janet Napolitano, and Treasury’s huge failure in Tim Geithner.

<–and the administration really never recovered from Dr Christine Romer’s disastrous and giggly appearance on Meet the Press early on. She may be a Harvard PhD and widely respected, but everything she predicted turned out to be incorrect and she at least had the sense to leave on her own.

Obama’s got America‘s very best political interviewer in CNN’s Candy Crowley coming up and she’s not likely to let either Barack or Mitt off the hook on her tough questioning.  No one ever told Obama he was wrong and he doesn’t like being told that he is wrong or has failed either and Crowley and Romney have nothing but bombs to throw and the president doesn’t know how to fight back.

<–I don’t think Crowley gets the respect she deserves because she is a chubby chick and not one of the anorexic Skelator women pervasive throughout the media, but I try to never miss her Sunday interviews—the lady knows what she’s doing!

Lay Romney’s problems in Nevada—a state he should have easily won—on the dysfunction of the Nevada GOP and its former corrupted cop ‘leader’ who doesn’t know jack shit about running anything either–he’s our very own Obama clone in that respect!!!  Team Nevada honcho Ryan Erwin also deserves major blame in that he appears to be just cashing the checks and phoning it in for Mitt Romney.

If you’re chairing a state effort on the presidential level for either party, you have to be an asshole and do nothing but bitch and moan and demand the resources necessary from the candidate’s national money people—and you have to do that every single day!

Erwin’s got just too much on his business plate in TX and CA to give the Romney campaign the attention he should have given it. He chose to protect his other business interests and connections over delivering Nevada to Mitt Romney which is a good business decision perhaps, but a poor political one that will leave a residue on him for future GOP candidates who will now be looking at other consultants locally.

Trusting the anti-Obama mood is strong enough to get the Indie votes and that GOPers will follow the Mike Slanker view that the last few week’s efforts are enough is not only naïve, it’s politically negligent and Team Erwin has failed badly and will get all the blame for Romney’s local loss.

Sorry Ryan, you blew it dude, not your candidate!!!

In the long and short of it, Obama already defined Romney and the GOP failed to respond hard, fast, and relentlessly. Dean Heller did the same thing with Shelley Berkley with the ‘newspaper boy and grease monkey’ in the garage ads which were very effective and everything Berkley has done to date to respond has failed very badly because she never spoke directly to us and left it all to the zero-talent Jessica Mackler who is running her campaign into the ground.

<–It’s too late now and Rochelle-y even lost my vote as I can see no reason to fire Heller and will cast my vote for him even though Berkley is a longtime political friend and favorite of mine!!!

There are thousands of moderate Dems like me who will follow suit too, so congratulations Senator Heller!

I chuckled that Heller was working on his vehicle in the cleanest shirt and hands on a ‘grease monkey’ I’d ever seen!!!  Heller wins big—I will call today that he has the best vote totals of the night beating both Obama and Romney—and that he should lift Greg Brower for Nevada Senate and even help Romney a bit but the Ron Paulians are an unpredictable intangible; they could deliver the Nevada Senate to the Dems by their own political immaturity and tantrums, enough so that that annoying hearing aid guy has radio ads all over the state basically yelling at the Paulians!

That is not only a very sad indictment of the Nevada GOP’s many failures, but an admission that no one in the state is running the Nevada GOP in a year they should have swept everything.

Again, and again, and again, despite what you’re hearing, it is not Ohio that will determine the presidency.  Obama’s got Ohio, its VA, CO, and most importantly FL that hold all of the cards today and Florida with its large Jewish-America vote is being saturated with ads from the Jewish Republican folks who know Obama’s anti-Zionism and weak support of Israel.

This very powerful Florida bloc almost elected Al Gore with his cynical choice of Joe Lieberman for VP in 2000 and they’re the whole ballgame for both candidates this year!!!

<–This Las Vegas Jewish Republican voter, Lolita Dawn Epstein of Summerlin, told me when I visited her in jail recently that she can’t support Obama or Berkley even though she can’t even vote from the Clark County Detention Center!!!

All avenues for a Mitt Romney win are closed in all of the important states but should he be as strong as he was in the Denver debate in the remaining two showdowns with the president, he may be able to deliver the US Senate to the GOP by 2 or 3 more seats and sit a few more Republicans in the US House.

Columbus Day is the day you start to watch the mean averages and how they’re trending—the presidential candidate in ascent always wins post Columbus Day and this year you’ll have to watch VA, CO, NV and FL to see who has the Big MO—momentum—and then you’ll know the outcome of November 6^th before anyone else.

But what that means further down the ballot in more than half the states is where the real drama will be; Obama aced Romney months ago, but either man can deliver, or not, his party’s candidates further down the local ballots and today, that would favor the GOP and Mitt Romney’s terrific Denver performance is the reason.

If that holds and expands in the next few weeks is all up to Mitt Romney and the political Romney may not acknowledge that, but the businessman Romney should know he now has within his reach the ability to deliver near veto-proof majorities to the GOP in Congress—all credit due to his Denver performance and what he does in the last few hours of his campaign…

…or does not do.

<–Sheriff Doug Gillespie takes in the crowd booing and jeering him during his appearance at the Cinco de Mayo festivities last spring!!!

The weakest, most ineffective sheriff Clark County has ever had over these past nearly 40 years isn’t running for re-election—his wife Louise will both divorce and shoot him if he does run—and I may make my first firearm purchase to affect her following through with her threat.

Plus, the Resorts have all lost confidence in Doug Gillespie and he couldn’t be any more disinterested in his job than he currently is.  He doesn’t like being Sheriff and he doesn’t like things like budgets and paperwork which are the primary aspects of his job.  He has a genuine fear of speaking in public and to his staff in private—neither are deal breakers to voters, but he doesn’t even have the sense God gave a turnip to surround himself with his related subordinate staffers when he must speak publicly and he is the only chief of a major urban department who doesn’t use these human tools at his disposal when issues of the day require he comment with associate staffers standing behind him backing him up at the ready to comment on things that fall under their responsibilities.

He chooses to stand there all by himself—trembling like a virgin at a prison picnic—score that as inexplicable Kent Oram/Rick Culley/Carla Alston failures with this very simple solution to mitigate what Sheriff Gillespie fears most: being in the spotlight when the news is bad and being held publicly accountable as Metro’s CEO about anything.

He also doesn’t like that he has no money to spend anymore and Sheriff Doug Gillespie doesn’t have a clue how to reorganize and restructure Metro to be leaner and more effective with the troops and resources he already has on hand.

<–What Doug Gillespie does like—loves really—is just being a dick for being a dick’s sake!

He’s really very good at being a dick too; he excels at it as this photo from the 2012 MLK parade clearly illustrates!!!

Look closely and you can also see Assistant Sheriff Joe Lombardo (upper right) bringing up the rear–so to speak–at the same parade!!!

When he awakens each morning, Dougie reaffirms his commitment to being an ever bigger dick than he was the day before and on a morning late this summer, he decided to take dead aim at Metro’s Saturation Teams—again, just to be a dick—under the auspices of ‘cut backs’ and budgetary restraints.

Never mind that waste at the LVMPD is everywhere which is normal in law enforcement and because once a program or bureau gets green-lighted, you can’t kill the beast or defund it and this is true all over the public sector but at Metro, simply rethinking how particular efforts operate or searching for streamlining or other efficiencies, sets off turf and territory wars inside the department with almost no one in leadership doing anything that’s best for Metro and the community it purports to serve…first!

Case in point: Everyone’s contracts are up and Douglas is crying poor, so he pulls the same shit every previous sheriff has when contract talk time comes up:  He proposes going to 5-8s—meaning everyone on 5 day 8 hour shifts instead of the more efficient and manageable 4-10s—and of course, everyone gets all upset and in a tizzy when this divide and conquer shit is actually taught in Management classes at some of the most prestigious Business Schools in America.  Get the rank and file all worked up and distracted over stupid shit and they don’t pay attention to the stuff that really matters in their contracts.

Works every single time too; that’s why they teach it!!!  You wouldn’t believe how genuinely upset Metro people got when they were told no coolers and mini dorm fridges would be allowed anymore at their new MLK headquarters; you’d have thought their salaries were halved it was so emotional and  intense.

But that’s minor and predictable stuff, when Douglas puts his Budget Hawk cape on over his He-Man undies is where things get a lot more interesting for you and me who pay the bills at the LVMPD.

A good example of how grossly incompetent Gillespie is occurred over a big, huge dust up over Metro’s Saturation Team efforts and the enormous waste of resources the Homeland Security Saturation Team and their bowing and scraping to Langley Productions’ ‘Vegas Strip’ faux filming is causing to Strip Operations at Metro; HSST & Langley f*cks everything Strip related up but Dougie and Joey like it, so it stays…at least for now.

What occurred behind the scenes between the two current frontrunners for sheriff in 2014—Assistant Sheriff Ted Moody and Assistant Sheriff Joe Lombardo—is the stuff of Metro legend and these two guys really do hate each other’s guts and the Saturation Teams were their first real—and very public—bloody showdown in the lead up to the 2014 race.

I don’t doubt for a minute that Moody and Lombardo will literally be kicking the crap out of each other in the coming months–maybe in the next few days–as showdowns like this will repeat often because Douglas is such an incompetent boob and Undersheriff Dixon isn’t asserting and prefers to sit there like the potted plant he turned into when he became a Deputy Chief.

Memo to US Dixon:  Sir, your kid is really some kind of special asshole and you may want to have a word with him or whup his ass!!

We have two sectors of Saturation Teams—one is Homeland Security’s whose costs are drawn from the Metro’s  Homeland Security Investigations and Support Group headed by Dawg favorite, the unbelievably incompetent shithead Assistant Sheriff and all-around perv, Greg McCurdy!!! The other is Neighborhood/Patrol-centric and operates to an extent under some federal grant money and has an actual credible track record too whereas the Strip’s Team does not and never did.

…and of course, the Resorts pitched a bitch and HSST survived and Neighborhoods are on life support now.

Lombardo, kissing the assess and sucking the dicks of the Resorts, advocated and won out for Strip interests over our neighborhoods; Moody vehemently stood by the neighborhoods and lost this round but won in the longer run by AS Lombardo’s incredible stupidity and short-sightedness. Basically, Dougie cut both teams and he didnt halve the proverbial baby, he took the easiest and stupidest way out and split the difference.

Why Joe Lombardo had anything to do with this matter is another matter; his responsibilities are things like Fingerprints and Records where he can’t get into any trouble f*cking things up like he always does.

Dougie made him the AS of LE Services Group because it is the easiest–and Joe Lombardo is a stupid shit, and also because should something bad happen that makes Metro look bad again, Lombardo can hide back there and pretend he didn’t have anything to do with it when he’s sticking his nose into everything at the LVMPD!!!

<–Assistant Sheriff Joe Lombardo also heads up Metro’s Ass Kissing Division where no budget cuts are expected!!!

Both Moody and Lombardo covet the Office of Sheriff; and AS Moody’s fierce support of our neighborhoods is the stuff that winning political campaigns for Sheriff incorporate.  AS Lombardo siding with the Resorts may get him their financial support but leaves him holding the very public position of his abandoning the rest of the county in exchange for those checks and the little old ladies who vote for Sheriff will flock to an AS Ted Moody over AS Joe Lombardo who supports chasing pimps, prostitutes, and drunks on the Strip instead of protecting the little old ladies out in the neighborhoods!!!

Missing in all of this is Sheriff Doug Gillespie, Undersheriff Jim Dixon, and Assistant Sheriff Greg McCurdy who should have been the one making the decision but he was too busy trying to look busy while doing jack-shit all day long to be concerned over why the f*ck AS Lombardo was sticking his nose into AS McCurdy and AS Moody’s defined responsibilities.

Any of the men with the title of Assistant Sheriff today would be pitching HUGE bitches about any of the others asserting over their defined responsibilities and duties…and rightfully so…yet AS McCurdy was out-of-the-loop and didn’t say shit when he eventually learned what was going on but did start crying uncontrollably and called all the West Side preachers he has on speed dial to see if he could get them to get him another raise for them making him cry…again!!!

<–Assistant Sheriff Joe Lombardo (left) is acting  far outside of his scope and the Sheriff and Undersheriff are allowing him—encouraging him really—to do so offending the chain of command structures within the LVMPD!

So why are we paying Gillespie and Dixon when Joe Lombardo is self-proclaimed Acting Sheriff riding roughshod over the entire department when he possesses zero talent and even less brains?

If you needed a LE professional’s take on something, in this case, you defer to Assistant Sheriff Ted Moody; if you needed advice on which haircare products to use, then and only then is when you would ever engage Assistant Sheriff Joe Lombardo!!!

…and of course Douglas, being the little dick that he is, didn’t even bother to suggest to or order anyone involved or their respective supporters backing the competing points of view up, to come up with a way to save both units in full and salve the Resorts and placate the neighborhoods as well.

A ‘leader’ would do that and wouldn’t serve up a popular department fatted calf for his underlings to fight over when there are dozens of other areas where the budget axe should fall first but no one has ever accused Sheriff Doug Gillespie of being a leader!!!

Nope, Dougie just wanted to be a dick when the money for both is there if he would command his staff to find it and make it work rather than amputating an effort his own now Undersheriff created when he was a lieutenant just six short years ago.

<–I tried to get a comment about all of this from this LVMPD Deputy Chief and his old lady at the Green Door last weekend, but they had nothing to say and were OK with me snapping their pic for the Dawg and even autographed it for me!!!

He also publicly did Sat Teams first to stick a shiv into the County and City to prod more money out of them when Metro won’t be getting an additional penny from either source.

Beginning the cutbacks with the SAT Teams defines what an asshole Doug Gillespie is and illustrates his incompetence and propensity to play games over managing his budget and staff.

Whenever he gets around to disbanding the monstrously expensive and ineffective Mounted Unit, rolls Traffic Bureau Field Squads into the Area Commands, combines Gangs and Organized Crime into one hybrid unit, Fingerprints and Records into one unit etc…then we’ll know he’s serious about restructuring the LVMPD; anything short of this, Sheriff Doug Gillespie is just playing his mind games again and being a dick…again

Sheriff Douglas Gillespie is a small man of small ideas and even smaller value to us and has declared war on his own department…just to be a dick!

Again!!!
