Zimmerman (who is married to a Metro cop who would literally shit if he knew how his old lady conducts herself all day long), and her cohort Art ‘Uncle Fester’ Ritchie to pay him $10,000 per month to lobby despite that he has decades of no pay or slow pay on his taxes and his recent nifty little Urban League scam he scored with fellow scam-artist Steven Brooks that robbed UNLV of a taxpayer funded daycare contract in yet another quid pro quo arrangement that personally benefits—well I’ll be damned!—Morse Arberry!

Some are wondering if a horizontal tango between Arberry and Zimmerman sealed this latest scam and only they and fleabag motel managers and parking garage attendants would know the answer to that one kids.

Zimmerman—the ‘Paris Hilton of the RJC’ as one barrister calls her, and an equally stupid bitch too—is the notorious judge who expected to get the OJ case and allegedly dashed out of her court to get her hair and nails done in anticipation of the plumb assignment—only to see it go to fellow legal featherweight and pain-in-the-ass, Judge Jackie Glass! 

RJC lore holds that Zimmerman took it out on court staff and defendants for months afterward in childish temper-tantrum retaliation! 

Ann E Zimmerman is also quoted in the paper as basically stating that the Arberry hiring issue is no one else’s business because ‘it’s our money’.

More R-J Follies:   C-rate celebri-phile/resort writer (shill for access really), Steve Friess apparently pitched a bitch, so the R-J and their Righthaven division also sued Sharron Angle over copyright infringement because they also sued his buddies over at NVDEMS and PLAN. 

Nevermind that both Friess and the R-J can adjust their web content so that it can not only not be copy and pasted, but can’t be linked either; and both whiners apparently use Search Engine Optimization so that their material is read—unpaid for—by anyone with web access.

Ever bother to read the contract before clicking ‘I agree’ on such SEO’s fellas? 

Then there’s the dozens of local businesses that essentially ‘buy’ their ‘The Best of Las Vegas’ designation from the R-J and then which post the banners proclaiming same without any visible indication that they have the R-J’s permission to do so. 

Have you ever seen one of those banners stating that the designation ‘is posted with the express written permission of Stephens Media because we are an R-J advertiser and they threw us this bone to keep us happy about paying their exorbitant ad rates’?  How about restaurant menus, Yellow Pages ads, and other media that print the same things?  Shouldn’t any reprint or use demand the ‘right to use’ be clearly printed on all copy so consumers know that they’re not taking any money from Shermy’s pockets? 

Another major suit against very deep pockets would be against Harrah’s Flamingo property which has a current major billboard ad buy regarding comedian George Wallace and the R-J’s Mark Weatherford’s quote regarding him. 

Are we really expected to believe that Gary Loveman and Jan Jones have written permission to run that copy written quote that virtually all 30+ million Vegas visitors will see and read in one location or another? 

Imagine the R-J’s feigned harm and damages times 30 million?  

Soooooooooo, the R-J’s Frivolous Lawsuit Division in Righthaven and their employee Vin Suprynowicz are now saying that stealing a few R-J words or paragraphs is OK, you just can’t steal a whole piece regardless that such linkage still earns an equal amount of exposure for R-J advertisers and still fully credits that which is copywritten. 

How is this selective and arbitrary—not to mention muddled and muddied—policy of some theft is OK, but some theft isn’t, standing up to federal court scrutiny?

Game Changer?:  That’s the title of Sharron Angle’s newest ad and it’s a really good one.  They’ve changed direction, refreshed the website and campaign aesthetics and she looks more like a polished and professional candidate for federal office for the effort. 

This look wasn’t working for Sharron Angle and they appear to have found someone other than Ringling Brothers to do her hair and make-up and to dress her too!  

I guess she really does read me and that my ‘Sharron, You Big Dumbshit’ piece struck a chord! 

They even have Sharron and her old man walking in the woods after a connubial romp in the great outdoors which I’m confident scared the shit out of the wildlife up there. 

Danny Tarkanian and Sue Lowden are to be commended for coming forward to assist their ticket’s standard-bearer and those of you who think Lowden was pouting over the summer are idiots! 

She lost a child; do you really think losing a primary is even in the same universe of life experiences? 

A joint commercial with Sue and Danny would be a brilliant masterstroke for the Angle campaign and may be in the works now that her team has their heads out of their butts.

Political Rock Groupie Files:  Yes, that was former NLV councilwoman Stephanie Smith in the mosh-pit at ‘Cheap Trick’ at the Paris recently! 

NLV’s Stephanie Smith was not seen smokin’ doobies, but she was seen in the mosh-pit at ‘Cheap Trick’. 

The band told her not to sing along though!

After she lost her mayoral bid, and after losing the trademark lawsuit the Aliante people brought against her for taking their logo and making it her eyebrows, she disappeared for a while then became a rock band groupie, I guess!

Known for her church singing at decibel levels rivaling anything coming out of Nellis’s jets, her LDS stake surpassed the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in sales of NASCAR earplugs and that financed church improvements and 100’s of missions for local young stake members. 

Steph,  ‘I want you to want me!’ (my fave Cheap Trick tune!), and we desperately need you back in public life because I need more material here!

Even the NYT and the Washington Post have you register to read their material on the web, and unless the nation’s papers decide how to charge for reading their content on the web, they could all be gone in a decade or so.

More David Roger Files:  Yant will also not be charged by the DA for manslaughter, perjury, or any other crime.  The Don Chairez people are going to flood me with hate mail, but yes, I agree with DA David Roger.

It would look too political this close to the election and I think Roger turned the valley on its ear siccing his attacked dogs at the inquest.  Had the jury gone with ‘criminal’, the AG’s office would have handled any prosecutions, but since they went with ‘justified’, the DA had to make an executive decision about office resources and I think he made the right one. 

Leaking to the press Yant’s other bullshit was a big, fat, wet sloppy kiss to the Cole family with more to come to pressure the LVMPD to get rid of this rotten-to-the-core cop and to give Trevon Cole’s family a consolation in the impending civil lawsuits. 

I’m a harsh Roger critic, but on this whole ordeal, I have no critique of he or his office; he made the correct calls.  Let’s see if the Erik Scott matter is handled as well though.

Lt Karen Hughes Files:  The LVMPD’s infamous Vice and Narcotics Lieutenant showed herself on KSNV Friday responding to queries about the Henderson cop copping some local pay-per-use Coochie.       

LVMPD Vice Lt Karen Hughes dyed her hair ‘Slutty Blonde’ since I last saw her a few years ago.  Looked like she’s lost some weight too!

I hadn’t seen the infamous, if not notorious, Lt Hughes in person in some years and didn’t know she’s dyed her hair Clairol ‘Slutty Blonde’ apparently to participate in Vice stings for those guys into old, tired hags working Fremont Street!

Soooooooo, we can now conclude that the ‘carpeting’ does not match the ‘drapes’ in her case!

I almost fell out of the chair laughing!  Her TV appearance also cancels any ability to ever work undercover which she never had done before and if you’re serious about Vice and Narcotics, you don’t put Admin-type police managers in units that require great depth in undercover and intelligence work Dougie! 

Same with Captain Zimmerman who was transferred out for the Bryan Yant fiasco and Captain Cannito who was transferred in to the unit; both are good men, but are Admin-type cops with no undercover or operations backgrounds which is OK, but which also means that the unit needs superstar Lts and Sgts (no one would ever call Lt Karen Hughes a superstar outside of the bedroom or backseat!) to carry the load in the vacuum of their Captain’s inexperience.    

Cops are no different than lawyers or doctors who are required to know lawyerin’ and doctorin’, but who can also specialize in particular aspects of their profession.  Metro needs admin people, and IT people, and other management types in its brass ranks—what it doesn’t need and never needed is three—yes, three now!—Assistant Sheriffs under Doug Gillespie.

Lt Lew Roberts Files:  A surprising number of you civilians have asked why Lt Lew Roberts wasn’t the media spokesperson for the Cole and Scott OIS investigations.  He’s developed a strong following over the years with people who like David Letterman smile guys; he’s the guy with the big gap in his big smile you see on TV a lot.  Lt Roberts responds to homicides within the general citizenry and though his subordinate detectives investigate all OIS’s (office involved shooting—which should be immediately changed to an inter-agency investigation model to enhance public confidence), it would be inappropriate for him to comment as that should only be the Office of the Sheriff and his/her designees commenting regarding fellow officers.

You often see Roberts in civilian clothes on TV because he is on-call for any homicide and has to put down his shovel and leave whichever buffet he’s attacking to immediately respond to the scene.  Yes, I do believe the LVMPD legend that he showed up once with a half-eaten, unwrapped cheeseburger in his shirt pocket because he just keeps getting bigger and bigger every time I see him.

More Metro Messups:   Yes, I completely agree that Sheriff Gillespie is terrible on TV and radio interviews and seemingly has added a bunch of people to the PIO’s office to balance that out.  What other cities do when crisis demands the police hold a press conference is that the police chief surrounds his or herself at the lectern with their brass standing behind them to show a unity and to explain who is in charge of what—Doug Gillepsie had never done that here and it makes him look like a lone-wolf without department support up there. 

The press would have wanted to know who the Captains are, who the Deputy Chiefs involved are, and what their responsibilities are within any particular incident, how the mechanics of the investigation are handled etc…  Even when he goes on Ralston, he can bring along any of his subordinates too, but he doesn’t understand any of the public aspects of his duties and is visibly uncomfortable with them.

In fact, I can’t recall any instance where Sheriff Gillespie showed up for such things with his own Undersheriff, Rod Jett!

US Jett may be a ranting, raving lunatic inside of the department but be he was spectacular when Sgt Henry Prendes was gunned down.  Young was with the family, then US Gillespie was directing the operations, and now US Jett was on TV speaking clearly, calmly, and factually and that was very reassuring to the public. 

Why Sheriff Douglas Gillespie hasn’t trotted out US Jett with him on these recent matters is one of the great mysteries of life here.

Maybe he fears being upstaged by his underlings?

Board of Regent Files:    Oh yes, I, like everyone else am furious a the ‘Arrogance of the Regents’ demanding a 25% increase in their funding, and will wait until I cool off to comment.  However, I am pleasantly surprised that Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie, has been talking about the Millennium Scholarship and how it needs to change.  

Sheila, you’re in the right church, but the wrong pew toots! 

The scholarship has to go and this school year has to be the last because we need to start banking that money for healthcare under Obamacare that will cost us easily well over 1 billion, not the 800 million dollar estimates currently being bandied about.

That’s a no-brainer but should have been done locally and illustrates that there are some missteps in this long haul to designate these fossil beds under the protections of the Department of the Interior via a lands transfer from BLM to the National Parks service; both Interior entities. 

To begin, this ‘race’ to preserve the area began when I was one year old and I’m now in my early 100’s. The serious efforts started in 2004 and I’m 100% on board for 100% of the land designation, but I have noticed all sorts of NIMBY-types, and single-issue extremists have permeated the efforts to its peril. 

First, I’ll give these people credit for shooting for the stars in attempting to gain ‘National Park’ status for this area which deserves no such exalted status.  Interior has many designations for lands within the NPS, but ‘National Park’ itself is reserved for the most exquisite of natural treasures and in that respect, Tule Springs Ice Age Park fails; there is nothing particularly unique, or exquisite about the proposed preserve that would make naming these 30,000 acres a ‘National Park’. 

Fossils are evident in all 50 states; some in much greater, much more significant abundance. 

More reasonable and more likely is a National Conservation or Preservation Area under the National Park Service.

And this is where the pains-in-the-ass (the PITAs) in North Las Vegas and other areas up there are delaying that which should be fast-tracked and if senate majority leader Harry Reid really cared about the concept, he could attach the authorization legislation to any bill sent to the White House. 

Any bill as the SML.  He refuses. 

The PITAs are determined to close down the Clark County Shooting Range falsely believing that National Park designation is incompatible with a public gun range.  They plan on gumming up in the courts all sorts of environmental challenges from everything from noise from the range to lead leaching into the wash. 

That could spell 25+ years of federal court fighting that the Department of the Interior does not wish to engage in. 

Ms DeStefano and her group need to permanently purge these poisonous interlopers from her group and state definitively that the national designation and the shooting range can and will be good neighbors. 

That these professional whiners were unaware when they bought their homes that the shooting range had been in the pipeline for years does not entitle them to disrupt the potential national designation and again, if DeStefano does not very publicly and very often greatly distances herself and her group’s efforts from these anti-shooting range community parasites, she will be throwing nothing but sand into the gears at the Department of the Interior. 

It’s like those idiots who bought expensive homes next to the NLV pig farm and now expect them to close up shop! 

Another major issue is the proposed Sheep Mountain Parkway that will connect US 95 and I-15, largely at the base of the Sheep Mountains.  This critical artery has also been in the pipeline for years but also has its core groups of selfish and self absorbed NIMBY community-haters not caring about master plans in place years before they moved here, nor about this critical component in the county’s infrastructure that isn’t needed today, but will be in 20-25 years—maybe sooner! 

We had the same concerns in the Summerlin Parkway corridor, but no one who lives within it today could even conceive the region without it now. 

The Tule Springs Ice Age ‘Preservation’ Park and the Sheep Mountain Parkway are very compatible and quite necessary to each other if you have the ability to think more broadly and design it as thoughtfully as Summerlin Parkway was designed; there will be little disruption or destruction to anything worth preserving though part of the ‘plant preserve’ and other areas seem on a deliberately placed collision course not to successfully complete the national designation, but to permanently cancel the Sheep Mountain Parkway because a handful of hate-filled people are throwing temper tantrums. 

Ms DeStefano and her group must again very strongly purge her group of these NIMBY community parasites and definitively state the yes, the national preservation area and the proposed thruway are both compatible and desirable. 

Mayor Buck and her meek-ish city council must state these things definitively too if they wish this preserve to occur within their lifetimes. 

The Department of the Interior is acutely aware of such community resistance over minor, selfish, matters and they have never been adverse to roads or even Interstates going right through some of America’s most pristine protected areas.  They are also very aware that the enthusiasm level could be much higher here and that a more coordinated effort between  NLV, CLV, the Paiute, the State Park, the Shooting Range, Nellis, the Test Site, and the Wildlife Range,  could be much, much stronger than it currently is today. 

The NPS’s mission is to preserve and make accessible our national treasures, not to hermetically seal them for a few boisterous nearby neighbors who failed to do any due diligence before they bought their homes. 

The final issue is one that has festered here for years and that would be the naming of Floyd Lamb State Park.  Floyd Lamb, one of the most vile, corrupted people this state has ever produced, was a convicted felon who took bribes from the FBI, and despite the previous valiant efforts of some, his poisonous name still marks one of the Las Vegas valley’s true gems that is intricately connected to the proposed national preservation area. 

The naming of the State Park has to change and has to be introduced until it is accomplished and Ms DeSefano must also insist that any federal designation of the 33,000 acre preserve be contingent upon Mr Lamb’s name being permanently stricken from the neighboring park. 

In the interim, Ms DeStefano must constantly inform preserve supporters who it is blocking permanently changing the Las Vegas Park’s name.  Some may find Lamb’s intense corruption charming local lore, but the federal bureaucrats at the Department of the Interior certainly do not and it makes us and the 48 year effort at preservation seem unserious to those in the 49 other states. 

And it bears repeating that Senator Harry Reid can attach the authorization legislation to any bill he so chooses—and he refuses.  If he can’t get it done this fall, it will be another 2-4 years at best and Interior’s demands are going to be all the greater the longer it takes that bill to become law. 

One Reid staffer apparently told an Interior apparatchik that the preserve should be named for Harry Reid!  Lost on the kid, but not the apparatchik, was that Reid and fossil are synonymous to many people here! 

The Harry Reid National Fossil Bed does have a ring to it, doesn’t it? 

The lesson here for all of us is to keep focused on the prize, to rid your support groups of the hate-filled people that delay things for their own selfishness, then ask for the moon on your proposals and expect less, and keep the non-direct issues and troublemakers as far away from your goal as you possibly can. 

Even with doing all of that, and with the most powerful man in the US Senate hailing from here, this is still no done deal today because the levers of our failed government institutions are rusty and corroded and nothing happens swiftly except taxpayer bailouts for the powerful. 

I’m truly surprised at how little ‘can-do’ and community public relations had been put into this effort.  There are hundreds of PR types in the valley who could donate their time and talents to polish up the current and rather poor presentation and what is passing as a coordinated effort. 

What they’re asking requires an enormous amount of effort, talent, and money and no one seems to be admitting that, much less asking for the community’s best and brightest to step up and donate what’s necessary to make this an all-star, all-community effort. 

Ms DeStefano is a good woman, but some believe she is too close and too hovering to see this project to successful conclusion and that she wants all of the glory, attention, and adulation and refuses to share and delegate…perhaps that is a fair assessment. 

Even Moses didn’t get to the Promised Land; maybe someone else should ‘close’ this deal? 

The final Interior design of the park would keep its primary function in place—the wash!—that for millennia has been draining rainfall and snowmelt toward the Colorado River.  Some annoying NLV NIMBY idiot told me last year—with great confidence!—that the BLM/NPS would divert the wash and Clark County would be forced to build drainage tunnels to preserve the fossil beds. 

That’s not going to happen and when all is said and done and we have a 1,000 year season of heavy rainfalls, the entire fossil bed could conceivably be washed away because NPS chooses not to interfere with nature in lands it sets aside for preservation. 

Doing so would be like placing a titty bar on Old Faithful

Wouldn’t that be the ultimate Nevada irony that after 48 years of dickin’ around on this project, some giant deluge just washed the whole damn thing away?                                     

If the proponents of this project don’t get it together and get a polished and professional effort going soon, they may ‘wash’ it away too!

That’s got to change; jurors need far more options to consider because ‘criminal’ implies to them that the officer acted with ‘malice’, or set out to deliberately murder the victim. 

No Coroner’s jury anywhere would walk that plank.  Judge Karen Bennett handled her courtroom very well but has a different hairstyle every time I see her!

Doug Gillespie actually enacted my obvious suggestion in assigning SWAT to dangerous warrant service and it is legitimate to ask why this hasn’t always been department policy.  Metro is a cluster f*ck of intense dysfunction under Sheriff Doug Gillespie,  but its SWAT unit is unquestionably the best in the country. 

By happenstance, I have seen them in action twice over six years and they are magnificent to observe.  High praise and credit for that goes to the unit’s former Lieutenant, now Executive Officer Lt Larry Burns who I have ranked Metro’s number one cop for 6 straight years. 

No other LVMPD police manager even came close—not even 6 straight years #2 ranked by me, now USM Christopher Hoye.  Metro’s Lt Class has some true all-stars and some shitheads too; the Lt’s under Metro’s system really do run the joint; their workloads can be enormous. 

XOLt Burns is awesome, he’s such a good cop and his elevation to XOLt was both a cynical ploy by Doug Gillespie to keep him out of the sheriff’s race, and to honor a superior officer with an exemplary record. 

He’d make an outstanding sheriff and he posed a major problem for the Resort Security Directors who have chosen our sheriffs since organized crime created Metro in 1973 to give them one-stop shopping for their purchasing of police officers:  What would they do with a Sheriff Burns who they couldn’t buy off and who actually knows wtf he’s doing? 

Burns is incorruptible, with unquestioned integrity, and cannot be bought off by anyone.  He takes calls for advice not only from all over the country, but from all over the world! 

I’ve spoken to many of his former subordinates who like USM Hoye’s former subordinates, all say the same thing about their former superior officer: They not only implicitly trust him—very rare at Metro—they absolutely respect him—also very rare at the LVMPD.

If police managers don’t have both trust and respect, they cannot lead and subordinates will not follow them; a chronic problem at the LVMPD that can be deadly in law enforcement operations.

One LVMPD superstar I spoke with at Guns and Hoses where our cops and firefighters blow off steam playing hockey (they’re really very good and a lot fun to watch too!) said this about him, ‘If Lt Burns ordered us to jump off of the Hoover Dam, and it was a lawful order, we’d all jump off of the Hoover Dam because it was the el-tee’s order to us!’. 

This is a lot of fun and a cheap family outing that benefits local charities too!:

That sounds silly to civilians, but is the very highest compliment a subordinate officer can give to a superior officer in law enforcement and made perfect sense to me knowing how LE agencies work internally. 

I think XOLt Burns is number 1 or 2 on the list for LVMPD Captain, but he has to wait until someone of higher rank retires out, dies, or quits to move up and the Nevada legislature’s meddling at Metro prevents the 2010 sheriff’s race winner from promoting to Undersheriff or Assistant Sheriff, anyone not at the level of Captain. 

That’s just stupid and needs to change.  There are LVMPD Captains and Deputy Chiefs who should be in prison, not wearing a badge or carrying a firearm on our behalf. 

The title and honor of being named an XOLt is a nifty perq in any Clark County sheriff’s bag of tricks that few civilians know about.  He or she is still at Lt rank, but serve in the XOLt capacity at the pleasure of the sheriff in his office at headquarters (called ’The Tower’ here) and may be assigned only by the sheriff not to act as the de facto sheriff, but to follow his or her direct orders.  That could be cleaning waste baskets out, getting donuts for everyone, or the more likely, special assignments from the sheriff to act as his or her presence on especially difficult operations or investigations. 

Which begs the question:  Sheriff Gillespie, why haven’t you yet assigned your very best officer—XOLt Larry Burns—to head up the Costco cluster f*ck, sir? 

Doing so would add instant credibility with every single employee in the department and within the greater community at large because of who and what XOLt Burns is:  A superior officer who will not lie or cover-up what may be bad or unflattering news—again, those are very rare qualities at the LVMPD! 

By Dougie not assigning to Burns the Trevon Cole and Erik Scott matters, he appears to be in his normal cover-up mode again despite his false statements to the press following the jurors’ verdict. 

Yant and his Sergeant may still face possible indictment on a myriad of issues and District Attorney Roger, who I am no fan of, is to be commended for his election year posturing that sent his attack dogs into Judge Karen Bennett’s courtroom.  She looked visibly surprised as that had never happened before in an inquest, Metro brass were visibly agitated that Roger sent his big dogs to do the inquest. 

Clark County District Attorney, David Roger, took his hands out of his pockets and away from his balls long enough to assign the Coroner’s Inquest to his top attack dogs—a first in Clark County Coroner’s Inquests! 

Observers including Judge Karen Bennett were visibly surprised! 

I don’t think David Roger has any other choice but to seek indictment because his Deputy gave Yant the opportunity to reflect and reconsider that he misjudged or over-reacted, and Yant would not move.  Yant is probably looking at involuntary manslaughter, perjury, and other charges; so is his Seargent, John Harney.  Harney, under the chain of command that had no checks and double checks under Metro’s archaic system, is the officer responsible for ensuring the sworn affidavit used to secure the warrant was ‘clean’ and factual. 

Only one officer, no one else, for any type of warrant, that’s also very stupid and needs to change but Doug Gillespie said nothing about that either. 

I don’t see a criminal jury convicting on manslaughter, but do see them doing so on lesser charges for both officers who should also be fired regardless. Sgt Harney did not lie on the stand, Detective Bryan Yant did lie, and had done so in his previous execution inquest too. 

Vice and Narcotics Captain, Brett Zimmerman, was reassigned and now former Crimes Against Youth and Family Captain, Vinny Cannito, has replaced him and that is an appropriate post incident shake up.  Some of the others above officers Yant and Harney have to be disciplined too and Gillespie was silent about those officers. 

I like Captain Zimmerman, he’s a good man and a good cop, but he knows this had to happen, especially in an election year.   

However, there was quite a different reaction from the paralyzed and ineffective Sheriff Doug Gillespie who still refuses to discipline/fire Captain Brett Primas or any of the senior officers in the Lt Steve Menger case because Sheriff Emeritus Jerry Keller won’t allow him to touch the officers he owns…and he owns Primas’s very soul.

Rep Dina Titus must have left home without her brain turned on and was stupid enough to be recently photographed with this lousy Metro cop!

Another unaddressed issue is the Doug Gillespie selling of our police department to the producers of COPS again.  These type of shows do grave damage to the city’s image and are absolutely a distraction to officers in performance of their duties. 

Lost on no one is that this is all happening under the scrutiny of an election year with Early Voting coming up very soon. 

Sheriff Douglas Gillespie’s abysmal failure in not assigning XOLt Burns to supervise the Trevon Cole and Erik Scott investigations—and with Scott’s inquest coming up at the end of next month—October could be thermo-nuclear hot in Clark County!

The Coroner’s Inquest process begins today for LVMPD Detective Bryan Yant and not a moment too soon.  Also, the dates for the officers involved in the Erik Scott execution has been set for next month too. 

Many of you have complained to me about the process and I generally agree with you, but it is the process in place and we have to respect that and work within what we have. 

I’m told that DA David Roger has requested that the Attorney General’s office be present for Detective Yant’s inquest and that is a strong indicator that the DA’s office may bring charges against Yant. 

If the Clark County DA decides to go forward, the AG’s office would handle the case, that’s why they will be in Judge Karen Bennett’s courtroom too. 

I have to step gingerly here as Judge Bennett is also the presiding judge for one of the guys who hit me last month and I am the victim/witness in that criminal case against him, so you’ll have to forgive my caution. 

I have to respect the processes in all of this stuff and so do you all.  It is what it is, but it is the processes that we have in place today.  This isn’t an I-Phone or FOX or MSNBC; those of you wishing instant outcomes like changing channels on TV need to get yourselves better informed and I’m here to help you guys out. 

Without question, Detective Bryan Yant must be fired for lying to the DA and the judge in affidavit…and the judge who signed that warrant may cancel/vacate it at anytime regardless that Mr Cole is dead. 

Yant’s statement was false, the warrant was therefore invalid, and the judge has an absolute duty and obligation to Mr Cole and his family to correct that warrant error post-mortem. 

It speaks to fundamental fairness and righting a legal wrong.

Shithead Files:  Asshole extraordinaire, Tony Dane is responsible for the robo-call last Saturday that many of you received.  I have a pretty good idea which media person he did that for, but can’t quite connect the dots yet. 

Something you may not know is that Dane often does these robos for free for his ‘friends’ to stir up some shit.  Regardless, the political ramifications are clear, yet the NVSOS didn’t state whether or not they’re investigating, but formal complaints against Dane to the NVSOS are on their way and we’ll share when they’re ready.

Michele Fiore Files: A few of you have mentioned her new Las Vegas Tribune position and column and no, of course she’s not writing it herself; it’s probably being ghost-written by her mother’s alleged girlfriend, Sarah Michele Crusader—I swear to God that’s her name, not her lesbian biker moniker—because she too has a column now in the Trib and the writing style is identical to the columns that Fiore puts her name on. 

No word yet if Fiore is officially in the mayor’s race, but if she does run, she has to give up the glamour of the Trib while running. 

I have no problem with these women and they’re fun to observe and to talk to, I just think that it’s hysterical that Michele Fiore’s Mom is apparently bumping pussies with Sarah Michele Crusader and that they hold such right-wing views when they’re done! 

Fiore’s handling of the ‘two-moms’ issue was done perfectly by her during her race, which is also odd to me.

Stavros Anthony Files:   Who knew that he has ‘people’, but he does and I ran into one of his ‘people’ while out to supper with one of my favorite people recently. 

Anyway, I congratulated the ‘Stavros’ person for getting him to trim his nose, ear, and that monster bush of back hair that sticks out of his shirt collars, more regularly and they told me that he wants to run for mayor too! 

Stavros, you big dumbshit, stay put a while.  I actually agree with your positions much more often than not, but it’s not your turn yet, so just polish your council cred more first. Plus, if Larry Brown runs and wins, I think you live up there too, and you may end up on the CCBC instead—wouldn’t that be better for you son? 

Sidebar:  One of my all-time favorite memories of Stavros Anthony was standing about five feet away from him while he was talking directly into fellow regent Jill Derby’s tits and she wasn’t complaining—she was like, ‘Ooooh Stavros, you so nasty, you big man you!

Mosque at Ground Zero:   I think it’s appalling that victims’ loved ones are expected to be tolerant, but Islam’s faithful don’t have to be tolerant in this matter.  Islam’s history is that that which it has conquered is built over (Temple Mount the most prime example) for the glory of Allah. 

My faith was doing all sorts of Crusades against these folks all over the ancient world and ownership and control of lands and monuments went back and forth for centuries, so I get what the Islamists are doing in New York with this project. 

I also fear that New York will become America’s Jerusalem with people getting violent, bombings, and killings over this mosque’s proximity to GZ. 

It’s an open invitation to violence and turning New York into Israel and Palestine.  I think as a matter of national security, it should not go forward at that particular site. 

OK, this one is pretty big, but Jesus was a  BIG guy!

The Lefty’s demand religious tolerance for Islam, but totally freak out when someone wants to put up a Christian cross somewhere; their duplicity is also appalling. 

I think the president is wrong and that he should have said ‘go ahead and build your mosque anywhere but there. Have respect and ‘tolerance’ for the 9/11 victims in this the freest nation on earth to practice your faith.’ 

By not saying that he fuels the Obama is a Muslim (he is because his Pop was and we’ve written about that before) people and Obama has dinged the dignity of the presidency yet again…and now he’s back-peddling yet again. 

This issue could be fatal to his presidency (and Democrats in general) and gave the GOP much more laser guided cannon fodder.

Erik Scott Update:  He was shot and killed on the day that I got hit by a car as a pedestrian so I’ve taken my time on this story.

Murdered in vain or by fat, lazy, drug-addled suburban cops not used to intensity?  None of the three LVMPD shooters was independently drug tested afterward and the question of the hour is:  WHY NOT!

I am very concerned that three officers unloaded on him as department policy would seem to contradict that type of over-reaction.  The incident occurred in Metro’s enormous Northwest Area Command which is over 100 square miles and is largely sleepy and suburban with mostly car thefts and burglary leading crime stats up there. 

Had the staffs of DTAC or CCAC responded (two of Metro’s most active, intense, and violent), Erik Scott would most likely be alive today because those officers are far better trained in dealing with intense incidents; NWAC personnel is not. 

Metro’s hard shoot to kill in all circumstances policy is also is play here, except that Mr Scott did not fire or have his weapon in hand which is a Metro license to kill if a suspect does.  Other departments follow a shoot to main or wound when a suspect does not have a firearm in hand. 

We should all be gravely concerned over the ‘chain of custody’ of the Costco tapes too.  

Metro is now in full-metal defensive lockdown mode to protect Doug Gillespie’s re-election and refuses to state who the officers were in the hard drive’s chain of custody, but insiders are telling me some very disturbing thing about highly corrupted senior police managers having their finger prints all over those hard drives.  If two police managers that I’ve heard mentioned were involved, then they personally destroyed the tapes because they’ve done things like that before! 

No one at Metro had the presence of mind to call the FBI to come down and take custody of those hard drives and that should gravely concern anyone interested in getting to the truth.  Any credible lab including the FBI’s would be able to determine if the tapes were tampered with too. Now that Metro engaged the California lab and not the FBI first, they can say that the lab tampered with evidence, not the LVMPD! 

See how these folks work now folks?  When Metro brass leaked to George Knapp that there was ‘nada’ on the tapes—exactly how would they have known that if they didn’t tamper with the evidence before turning it over to the California lab? 

That unbelievably unprofessional, ill-advised leak to Knapp has greatly exposed Metro and exploded open the underlying conspiracy evident in this matter too. 

Mr US Attorney and Mr SAIC, care to comment guys? 

After the inquest, the FBI can be brought in to investigate if Metro personnel tampered with the evidence and that could spell huge trouble for Douglas Gillespie whose super-corrupted department should already be operating under multiple federal consent decrees. 

It’s unfortunate that a tragedy may be what it takes for the Justice Department to finally bring to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department the top-to-bottom investigation and multiple indictments that should have been done here ages ago. 

Scott was very fortunate to be a white guy with a strong family and friends network who are driving this train in his memory.  If he was brown or black skinned, we’d have already been done with this. 

It seems Ms Bisch has a major issue going into the final stretch, doesn’t it?

Summertime Blues Files:  Yes, I think that those candidates who took a hiatus over the summer were smart to save their resources.  I also think that Harry and Rory’s people doing telephone banking in July is just stupid and a waste of resources because no one was paying attention then.  It is a truism that regular people begin to pay attention after Labor Day and it’s also a truism that if your campaign is in ascent on Columbus Day, you’re very likely to win your races.                                                                                       

And yes, I think it is amazing that after the millions spent against her by Harry Reid, Sharron Angle is just two points shy and that would spell a win for her if the election were held today. 

It is also truism that in an agitation election like this if you’re the opponent and trailing by less than 4-5 points, you should also pullout a win if you’re not a dipshit. 

Of course I want her to win; it’s the only way Dems pick up the Ensign seat (again, he’s not running and you heard it here first long ago!) in 2012 because we Dems always need a rallying cry and a bogeyman to fire up our voters!  

If Harry wins, say hello to Senator Dean Heller in 2012!

Good Question!:  It’s hard to narrow it down, but I would say that the two most impressive persons I’ve observed in both parties this season are both young women! 

No one matches Dem superstar Rebecca Maxie who is insanely talented and is only 14 years old, I think.  Well, maybe not 14, but she’s way younger than me and was recently made a Vice-President over at Organized Karma. 

On the GOP side, brand new RNC Southern Nevada appointee, Swati Singh, just knocks you flat on your ass with her super smarts and go get ‘em nature.  Beautiful frosts her cake too!  A Vegas lifer and an Indian-American to boot, she and Ms Maxie could be in public office in about a decade if they don’t get bogged down in their respective parties’ bullshit and stand on their own unique talents instead!

Columbus Day Blues:  Yep, the laws of unintended consequences could be in play if voters perceive a Harry Reid win around Columbus Day!  What generally occurs is that voters (especially the Indies!) take it out on the hides of Dems further down the ballot and that could spell a Marshall and Walin loss, perhaps two Dem Dem NV Senate seats gone, and maybe 3 Assembly seats gone too.

They’re the Same Guy Files:  I get this a lot and I love how supporters of Rory or Brian believe that there is any discernable difference between Rory D-Lionel Sawyer & Collins, and Brian R-Jones Vargas—both firms having done catastrophic damage to this state and pretty much represent all of the power players here too! 

Neither Rory or Brian would ever use their veto pens except to veto raising our world’s lowest gaming taxes! 

Go ahead and ask either one how high into the double digits they want the gaming tax to go. 

They’re identical twins kids! 

Sidebar:  Although our gaming taxes should be at least equal to our 8.1% sales tax here as a matter of fundamental fairness, it should be noted that for the first time since 1931, another state’s gaming tax haul bested Nevada’s! 

Pennsylvania, which taxes at 55%!—yes, 55% plus they have to pay 100% of oversight costs too!—and with all gaming companies lusting to be there!—our gaming tax should be at least the national average, shouldn’t it? 

Please ask either Brian or Rory or anyone running for the legislature, just how high into the double digits Nevada’s gaming taxes will be rising after the 2011 session!

The RTC has removed scores of bus stop benches to comply with ADA requirements that sidewalks are ‘passable’ for those with disabilities, but the city and county continue to turn a blind eye to the ugly Smut Boxes taking up far more room than a bus bench. 

Our writing about them has caused the City of Las Vegas to at least attempt to get its thousands of boxes’ licenses up to date and Greenspun Media Group is also attempting to comply for it Las Vegas Weekly boxes.

Both still have a long, long way to go, but deserve credit for trying while the Las Vegas Review-Journal and its City Life are ignoring compliance except two R-J boxes spotted near the Gold Spike and the El Cortez by alert readers.  Stephens Media’s City Life believes they are exempt and may squat anywhere they please, so does El Mundo, Job Seekers, Apartment Finders, Saver Source, and about a dozen other publications on the public way inside never licensed boxes. 

Clark County has made an effort to get its thousands and thousands of illegal boxes up-to-date too—though the 2005 permit we spotted is still not in compliance!—but it should be noted that it’s horrifically corrupt Public Works Department, as well as Las Vegas’s are the folks charged with the tasks of licensing and approving these boxes. 

Talk about putting the foxes in charge of the henhouse, huh! 

Virginia Valentine and Betsy Fretwell couldn’t give any less of a damn about them or the revenue they’re supposed to be producing.  In fact, there are no enforced standards, no concern at all about ADA requirements, and that’s why almost every neighborhood in the valley is overrun with these ugly, commercial, for profit boxes not paying even close to their fair share when budgets are being slashed. 

In return, Public Works employees are allowed to ‘badge in’ to strip clubs in return for non-enforcement and are welcomed like long lost friends.  Some are well known to be prolific bribe takers too! 

It’s good to be a Public Works employee in Las Vegas or Clark County especially when there is no hard policy barring ‘badging in’ anywhere.

We all know the syndicates that control the Smut Boxes too!  The ‘Catlick Syndicate’ controls them in Las Vegas, and the ‘Mormon Syndicate’ controls them in the County, right? 

An entertaining aside here is that the Las Vegas Tribune appears to be squatting inside of someone else’s illegal, unlicensed boxes—none of which have any indication who owns them either—and Larraz endorsee and perennial Sheriff candidate loser and LVMPD Detective Gordon Martines, has his mug and his giant campaign stickers fronting hundreds of these unidentified Smut Boxes all over the valley too! 

See how effective the LVMPD’s IAB is as this connection/association would absolutely be considered nefarious and bringing disrepute in any other police department. 

Perhaps we should all be grateful that LVMPDer Gordon Martines is a Robbery Detective and not a Vice Detective! 

I bring this all up because the City is attempting another fruitless attempt to control sex-peddlers and other ad hoc people distributing for profit things at the Fremont Street Experience.  The City has every right to license its vendors and performers on the public’s way—all it can never do is bar political or religious speech on the public’s way. 

As a matter of fact, just a short walk from Fremont Street, the City of Las Vegas has allowed for decades, a full-sized replica of the Ten Commandments on the lawn at the Dula Senior Center at Bonanza and the Boulevard. 

Not even the ACLU dares challenge that placement! 

And here’s the kicker:  Almost 100% of the Smut Boxes are free to anyone to lift open and take their contents.  Constitutionally speaking, that’s just the same as those annoying people sticking cards and pamphlets into tourist chests on the Strip and elsewhere! 

The City and the County have every right to require that a coin or token be used to open them but does not because the owners don’t want people to ‘pay to enter’—so to speak—and they don’t trust their money in coin boxes and don’t want to bear the collection expenses either.

In fact, the gay folks are the only enterprising people any of us has encountered this past year with these boxes; they require $1 to enter their boxes! 

A Smut Box—especially the city’s own constructed concrete circular boxes at the ‘Experience’ containing free, completely unlicensed smut advertising to all (pardon the pun here!) comers—is the legal equivalent of a live person doing the same thing on the public’s way. 

Because the City and County do absolutely nothing to control their unregulated boxes, live people are free to do as they please then too!  You can’t regulate one form and not the others as the courts have been clear on this for decades. 

This is why the City and County’s efforts and concerns are so damn phony!  They all know what they have to do to control this invasion of our public ways, but they feign concern and cash the contribution checks and that’s how the world works here. 

Remember a few years ago when the smut peddlers attempted to change the NRS making it a capital crime with a mandatory death sentence to remove more than one issue from any unlicensed, illegally squatting box?  Seems that homeless guys were using them for bedding and religious types and scout troops were doing ‘box emptying’ projects and that made the underworld guys and their campaign contributions really mad! 

Thankfully, that effort failed, but it did get a full hearing! 

Again, if they’re stupid enough to illegally squat and not require a coin to enter, you may take not only take all of the contents, but you can take the boxes too and sell them for scrap to supplement your incomes and pay for that scouting trip to the Jamboree! 

It’s all perfectly legal for you to do that with any unlicensed box on the public’s way!  It’s perfectly lawful to remove all of the contents from free-to-open boxes too! 

There’s not a damn thing anyone can do to you legally speaking! 

Other municipalities license and regulate everything from street food vendors to musicians and for-profit pamphleteers; that’s all perfectly legal and entities have the right to require such things on public property.  Because the Smut Boxes require annual permitting, live persons doing the same function as the boxes do may also be required to be ‘permitted’ with a photo ID, their name or ID number, and business contact information for anyone who may ask for it on the public’s way.

What good is a tourist’s complaint if they can’t identify the wrong-doer for officials to cite? 

But, because Las Vegas and Clark County really don’t have any credible, lawful rules and regulations; there are in effect, no regulations that are legally enforceable and that’s just how they really want it! 

For instance, the LVMC (6.52.070) has a section where those who are advertising ‘massage’ services are required to list their ‘privilege license’ numbers on all of their advertising.  Read that as any hand card, Yellow Pages, alternate newspaper ad, even a simple business card. 

I will donate $1000 to your favorite legit charity if you can produce for me a single ‘massage’ advertisement in Las Vegas that contains a license number!  The publishers are required to ask for such information and are lawfully obligated to include it in advertising it accepts. 

Show me where any publication from the R-J to a supermarket flier has ever been cited for not publishing this required information! 

Or how about ‘outcall entertainment ledgers’?  Yep, the City of Las Vegas requires adult performers to keep ‘logs’ (again, pardon the unintended pun!).  (LVMC 6.57.120) 

BawaaaHaaHaaHaaa!  Sure, that’s happening out there! 

Then there’s the ‘Escort’ businesses that the city requires them to secure a signed contract with the guy’s name and what ‘service’ is going to be performed! (LVMC 6.36.060) 

When I whore myself out to the old broads at the home on Social Security check day, I have never kept any kind of logs or have gotten signed contracts except for those good tippers that have passed away! 

These very silly, very unserious laws only serve as a battle-ax against those in the adult services industry who aren’t paying their required bribes to public officials and to some in Metro’s Vice and other units who are utilizing these services. 

Think about it, when was the last time you heard of any arrests or prosecutions of any of these businesses or ‘licensed’ individuals? 

When something rarely does occur it’s a titty bar sting here, an Asian massage parlor sting there, and the charade goes on and on. 

It’s very credible to ask District Attorney David Roger and Sheriff Douglas Gillespie where all of the arrests and prosecutions of this higher end, organized crime-controlled end of this business have been the past four years…or ever really! 

My final piece on this will cover the appalling exploitation of workers from the illegal immigrant bicycle guys who stock the Smut Boxes to the illegal immigrants on the Strip peddling porn each and every night working under threat of ICE being called and not earning anywhere near state required minimum wages either! 

Neither the City, the County, the NVDETR, or the Nevada Department of Taxation cares at all about any of this and the largely untaxed and unregulated multi-billion dollar sex industry here gets off scot-free, when services and budgets are getting axed and politicians are demanding of us to pay even more in taxes after the next legislative session.

She’s like Christmas tree lights blinking on and off with dependable regularity. Sometimes it appears she knows what she’s doing and what she’s gotten herself into, other times it seems some of the lights are burned out and not working.

At times she’s a mile wide and an inch deep too; other times it’s a mile deep and an inch wide.  Her faith in her faith doesn’t bother me at all and will play well with conservative ‘values voters’ in both parties, but her faith in ‘Him’—him being her husband Ted—is a very interesting and unreported story in this fairytale year of her career.  He is far more the pure political animal and operative than she is and has his own following, but I think he’s failed to broaden her and observers are left to think she is cocooned and isolated from the real world by Ted Angle. 

You also can imagine these two doing a prayer circle before having sex if they’re still doing that kind of thing. 

Peculiar is a very good word to describe her too.  She is polite, warm, and personable in person, but doesn’t exude any warmth or empathy in her TV/Radio life and though you feel you’d like an invitation to dinner, you fear she’d get all ‘Bernadette at Lourdes’ on you even though she’s a Baptist. 

Her television persona is such that when you’re watching her becoming ‘Bernadette’, you don’t think it’s genuine, but an affectation to telegraph to the ‘charismatic types’ that she is one of them.  You expect some kind of ‘Political Stigmata’ when she’s politically ‘on’.

I can’t recall such a major race nationally where both candidates are so badly damaged by their own mouths and who both suffer malignant forms of the most serious cases of Political Tourettes. 

They have both said some of the stupidest things I have ever heard! 

Neither Harry Reid or Sharron Angle deserves to win, but one or the other will.  So chaotic are our choices that people are now openly talking—wishing really!—about Harry Reid dying soon after re-election and the next governor appointing himself to his seat.

Senator Brian Sandoval?  Was that the quid pro quo Harry used to coax him out of a lifetime appointment as a federal judge to derail his own son and enhance his own chances?

I love political conspiracy theories as much as the next guy, but this piece is about Sharron Angle and her rocky history and the rocky start of her fall campaign. 

First of all Sharron, you big dumbshit, the classy thing to do right after winning your primary would have been to hit the airwaves ASAP with a ‘thank-you’ note to your voters and a ‘Hi-ya’ to the rest of us.  I can’t recall anyone doing that kind of very classy ad here but even if you only had $12 bucks in the bank, it would have neutralized Harry’s five week unanswered barrage against you. 

By going to your bunker, you’ve left the impression that you were shell-shocked that you actually won when you should have been re-introducing yourself to us.

The overwhelming majority of the state still has no idea who you are and that is both a plus and a minus for you.      

This is why the Toni Home Perm was banned in most states!

Second, you need to do an ad that tells us that you’re a woman, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a teacher, a mother, and a grandmother—you talking to us about YOU, you big dumbshit! 

Show us images of your being a wife, a mother, and a grandma for women who need to see your being all three, especially Republican women that may all hate Harry Reid, but are worried about you! 

Men usually don’t care about such things, but I’ll admit that I really do need to see and hear these things about you—from you. 

Your first ad was mediocre with poorly staged images of old white people in a setting that looked contrived and staged rather than ‘real’ and interactive with ‘real’ voting people out there.  Harry hit you hard with his man-on-the-street ads and you need to be doing the same damn thing! 

Hell, I’ll get you 200 non-political people in an hour who will ‘vaporize’ Harry Reid for you! 

You alone hold a special place in Nevada’s history and enjoy the exalted status of being the only elected official in modern times to win a US Supreme Court decision over the disastrous tax increase issue in 2003. 

That was as far back as the Mesozoic Era in our state with the attention span and memories of a gnat; you have to remind us about it—and remind us a lot—toots!

It is political platinum encrusted in diamonds during this particular cycle if you remind us why they all hate you in Carson City and in the local media.  It was the crowning moment of your public life and they all hate you because you would not cut the deal and would not ignore the state’s constitution. 

Sharron, you big dumbshit, you came within a couple of votes of beating Rep Dean Heller and would have won that primary if Dawn wasn’t in the race too.  That was your base thanking you for sticking to your principles against all odds and is your only credible gateway to victory in November. 

They can and do seethe with their ‘irrational hatreds’ about you, but even your harshest critics have to concede that it was deft political maneuvering and a bravura performance on your part. 

You are a Nevada taxpayer heroine; a fiscal legend in Nevada history!

Ummm…where are those ads Sharron, you big dumbshit? 

Or how about some shots of your modest home and the Ritz Carlton where Harry and Landra live?  You can’t depend on the 527’s to hit that with so much for them to shoot at. 

How about mirroring his own ads and calling him ‘Just too extreme’ too!  He has no relationship to this state with his progressive extremist views, and that has deteriorated over his 46 years of public life. 

Yes, I’d call Harry Reid the ‘progressive extremist’ he is too!  

See, he’s an extremist Religitard  too!

They have no problem calling you an extremist but in their view, extreme is only a right-wing malady when the average voter perceives it as being universal and non-party specific.

Don’t mention his 27 years of gorging himself in Washington either; change that to  his 46 years of feeding at the public trough while enriching himself and his buddies every day for 46 years for even more impact. 

Will you support Term Limits and limiting your own time in the US Senate voluntarily? 

If you’ve said that already, I haven’t heard it when you should be saying it every single day! 

That would have enormous value to you compared to Harry Reid because he is too stupid and too egotistical to tell us this would be his final term—if he says that, he will win however—if you say it, you become less exotic to us and more likely to win over the squishy middle-ground voters who all know that we have to fire the poisonous, cancerous Harry Reid but are still unsure about you. 

I have to vote for you and so does any reform-minded person knowing that yes, we do have to ‘kill the beast’ that is Harry Reid and ‘exorcize him from the Body Politic’ if we’re ever going to move forward as a state, to borrow your religitard rhetoric. 

Can you tell us this stuff without getting all Old Testament on us?  Figure out a way—you big dumbshit—and you should more than squeak out a win. 

It’s not changing anything about you or your views; it’s saying it better… or not saying it at all! 

Harry  Reid is the reason we are what we are today and frankly, I would vote for any mammal with a day job over Harry Reid, but you have to convey to us the ‘normal’ about you and that can only be done with your kids and grandkids in your ads and by keeping Ted far less prominent. 

I really do think that it’s Ted who’s responsible for the marionette qualities about you Mrs Angle and there is much more to you than the Al Hirshfield caricatures that have come to politically define you over the years. 

Do you even realize that you are inches away from the Holy Grail—a metaphor you should be able to understand—honey?  Do you understand that you are your own worse enemy and that your blunders and verbal diarrhea aren’t figments of the lefty media’s imagination? 

Unless you wise up really fast, you’re going to lose when any idiot should beat this guy.  Sharron, if you don’t get it together soon, you may just be the only idiot in America that won’t beat the very beatable Senator Harry Reid…

If my Ma could have figured out how to do it at our kitchen table, I would not have been an admitted hospital patient until I was 35 years old and slipped on the ice and broke an ankle at work. 

When something happened to me or my siblings or cousins, our folks would momentarily hover over us, check if an elbow was protruding from a big toe or a spleen was coming out of an ear, determine whether or not we were dead, then pronounce ‘He’ll live’, and our Moms would lay a Loogie on a Kleenex, wipe off the blood and guts, and we’d go back outside to play a few minutes later. 

Emergency rooms?  Oh, hell no; that just isn’t done in our family! We had the same squeeze bottle of Bactine in our medicine cabinet for almost 30 years because nothing cures anything better than Ma spit. 

Bandages?  Are you people insane?  Our ability to get a Band-Aid for something was directly related to Ma’s weekly Saturday shopping.  If you got messed up on Sunday, your chances were pretty good that there would be a box of bandages; if you got messed up on a Friday, you were pretty much on your own and your care mirrored that of a Civil War battlefield hospital. 

There were no ‘Hello Kitty’ or ‘He-Man’ bandages either.  None of that bullshit for the Zahara kids!  But, being ‘Catlick’, we had several trillion of those stupid little round bandages where the pad is too small and the adhesive too little to be of any good for any wound for longer than 5 or 6 seconds! 

And as stupid and useless as those ‘lil round bandages are, nonetheless, on any given day, we had several trillions of those because it’s against our faith to throw anything out that may be of medicinal value to anyone should there be a nuclear war, or something. 

‘Duck and cover! Oh, and here, have a couple of hundred of these useless little round bandages too!’  Just as we contemplate the great mysteries of the Pyramids today, some future civilization will unearth our stuff and wonder what the f*ck we ever did with all of the trillions of bazillions of little round bandages they find. 

My folks split up responsibilities for our care.  My Dad really really hates blood, so he was in charge of puke and anything needing an Ace bandage.  Ma really hates puke and would join you in a sympathy puke if she thought you were even thinking about ralphing, so she did the blood, the scabs, and voluntary or involuntary tooth removal. 

We’re a good family, just a really odd family, now that I think about it! 

Odd because when something happens to one of us, there is something in our familial, genetic make-up that turns us into total retards.  Anything from a zit to an amputation, this is what happens in my family and there’s also a contagious pathogen too, because if you marry into my family, you’ll do the same things! 

Here’s how it always goes and how it went for me when I got hit by a car last month: 

‘Oh my God, one of our loved ones is sick, injured, or infirmed!  Quick, get a Hefty Bag and run around the house like an idiot emptying everything you see into said bag and bring the full bag to said sick, injured, or infirmed loved one immediately!’ 

Now, my big sister is a really good guy; she has always taken care of all of her little brothers and I am little brother number one.  So, she called and said, ‘Oh my God little brother is there anything you need?’ 

I replied, ‘Yeah, I need some Neosporin, some Telfa pads, a big bottle of generic aspirin, and some Cherry Coke would be nice too!’ 

This is what I got in my big giant Hefty Bag instead:

One box of StayFree maxi-pads—this is notable for many, many reasons, not the least of which is that neither my mother or sister have needed these particular products for quite some time!

And you people wonder why I’m such an oddball and see things differently than most? 

I’m no better either.  When my sister had her hysterectomy a few years ago I gave her a case of motor oil because I didn’t want her to worry about her car when she was missing a major part of her Hoo-Hoo! 

She’s really good though because moments after your conception, she somehow conveys to the tiny zygote exactly what she’s going to want you to get for her should she be sick, injured or infirmed…and that’s always going to be a product called ‘Twinkle’ copper cleaner for her Revereware copper-bottomed pots and pans. 

It’s not sold in this region of the country and she has no problem telling complete strangers where they can purchase it, how much it will cost, and how to FedEx it to her. 

After her surgery, the entire Zahara extended family could tell who and where well wishes came from:  Nevada friends sent tons of flowers and cookies and stuff, back East people all sent ‘Twinkle’, and I regret to inform you Nevada folks which she appreciated more! 

No, really, I’m serious!  We may not have any bandages around the house, but if you need your copper products cleaned, the Zahara family has your back dude! 

I’m 49 years old and have never purchased bandages because I, like all American males, consider the company’s First Aid box my endless supply should I ever need them…plus, I really don’t want to have all of those useless round ones hanging around my home either. 

Nor do I want you getting injured at my house.  I’ve inherited my 97 year-old, never-sick-a-day-in-his-life, Grandpa’s gene that tells him he doesn’t want to go to the doctor because they’ll just ‘find something’…with me, I don’t buy First Aid products because that just encourages you to get hurt while visiting me!

I’m on the mend and healing very well at the one-month point as any credible Zahara would; we’re generally not drama queens except for my youngest brother who is the Meryl Streep of the family and who managed to get all of the bandages growing up too! 

So, I’m left with the impression that had Metro just called my Ma’s house and asked her to come down, spit on a Kleenex and wipe all of the blood off of my face and torso, that this would have been over in a few hours…tops!

Two exact words/phrases I’ve used for years in writing about Metro!  Think he reads us?

‘Will’ implies some future date when the very definition and job description is that as sheriff, he owns it all, right?  Shouldn’t ‘will’ have been ‘does or do’? 

Never once in Douglas Gillespie’s entire career has he ever taken ownership of anything and he’s certainly not going to start now.

He’s dealing with Metro murderer and hyper-racist, Detective Bryan Yant, who should have been relieved of duty after his last execution, then there’s Erik Scott who was lawfully carrying, but who LVMPD brass are leaking to George Knapp that there’s ‘nada’ on Costco surveillance tapes.

How would Costco ever explain that to their board members and to their customers…and what about tapes from surrounding businesses too?  Trust me, there is evidence out there showing exactly what occurred because at 9:12 AM on the day that Officer James Manor died, I personally watched tapes of a Rainbow business that showed conclusively that Manor was excessively speeding and did not have his flashers on—I was watching those tapes as Douglas Gillespie was lying to the public that it was Mr Darling’s fault. 

Only when he found out all of these tapes were going to come out did he pull back. 

He eventually retracted for being wrong…but he never once publicly apologized to Mr. Darling or his family for ruining their lives with his lies. 

Never once!  That’s ownership?  Leadership?  

Now we all know that Jane Ann Morrison, John Smith, George Knapp and others can’t ever ask the logical follow up questions or ever call Doug Gillespie out on his congenital lying problems, but here are some questions for the MSM to ask should Dougie ever talk to them again: 

How come no one asked the sheriff about Lt Steve Menger at the latest press conference?  Does a compliant and complicit local media hope that story goes away too?  Are you hoping it goes away Mr Sheriff?  How could your elite Homeland Security Division miss this, how could your Narcotics Unit miss this very well known dispensary and the officers who frequent it? 

Did you fire, reprimand, or demote the senior officers involved who missed it—McClary, McCurdy and Primas?  If not, why not? 

What ever happened to the story of Officer Kai Degner, Mr Sheriff?  How about Jeff Guinn, son of the late governor? 

Mr Sheriff, how about the hyper-corrupted Lt Ben Kim or former Officer Morris Mattingly?  How about Sgt Frank Sutton? 

Something?  Anything at all to say Mr Sheriff?  How long do these investigations take?  How come we never hear outcomes?

Since you’ve become sheriff, how many LVMPD sworn and civilian employees have been fired, demoted, or otherwise disciplined?  How many IAB investigations have taken place during that same time period?   We don’t need names, just numbers will do Mr Sheriff.

How about who was it that attempted to seal an order of protection filing against your fellow wife-beating LVMPD Captain Charles Hank? 

Has Captain Hank completed his anger management requirements yet, Mr Sheriff?  Was he drug-tested after the incident? 

Doug Gillespie seen here wishing, hoping, and praying he doesn’t have to answer any questions because he is so incompetent, has had two recent, very rare press briefings…if you could call them that with our compliant and complicit local press.

Back to Trevon Cole sir, how is it that your highly-corrupted LVMPD Narcotics Unit—the very same one that apparently totally missed Lt Menger’s activities—lied in sworn statement to a judge again…and why if this suspect was considered so dangerous, didn’t your vaunted SWAT Team serve the warrant sir? 

Keeping with SWAT sir, did you bestow on former SWAT Lt Larry Burns the much deserved status of XOLT (executive officer lieutenant—much more on this later btw!) just to keep him out of this year’s sheriff’s race, and do you regret the legislature’s meddling that prevents you from naming anyone not at the level of Captain, such as XOLT Burns, or above as your Undersheriff should you win? 

What possible reason would you have had to elevate to Assistant Sheriff, the universally reviled, never respected Ted Moody?  Are the rumors true sir that you will name Moody as your Undersheriff should you win? 

Why do you feel you now need three Assistant Sheriffs with money so tight?

Keeping with the Assistant Sheriffs sir, did AS Flynn,  AS Moody, Lt Hughes, and others indentified for lying to the FBI about former Lt superstar, now USM Hoye—forcing onto him the racist indignity of being the only federal appointee designee in state history to suffer through two FBI background checks—suffer any consequence like firing, demotion, or reprimand? 

If not Sheriff Gillespie, why not? 

Why is Deputy Chief Kathleen O’Conner the only female in senior (DC or above) police management? 

Mr Sheriff, why is the LVMPD the largest law enforcement organization in the United States without an Hispanic person in senior (DC or above) police management? 

I spoke with Metro’s PIO good-guy, Officer Bill Cassell, who told me that the LVMPD has never drawn blood, urine, or taken a hair samples from any officer who discharged their firearm in the line of duty.  Mr Sheriff, if the LVMPD weren’t self-insured and had to buy coverage from the private sector as other departments do…such independent, comprehensive testing is required. 

Sheriff Gillespie, do you think comprehensive, independent, post-incident drug testing should also be required at the LVMPD?  If not, why not? 

Also required from private sector insurers is that all officers wear their safety belts and that some, if not all officers, wear their Kevlar vests. 

Mr Sheriff, you’ve recently entered into a free ad campaign with R&R Partners to encourage safety belt usage within the department, but you, as Sheriff, have every right and privilege to issue a direct order to do so?  Why do you need this campaign, and why haven’t you issued a direct order that all of your subordinates must follow this new policy?

So many questions the Sheriff won’t answer and the local media will not ask.  Not only these, but dozens and dozens more questions too!

Douglas Gillespie has been one of the least accessible for comment sheriffs we’ve had since organized crime created Metro in 1973. 

I’d be hiding too if I had Doug Gillespie’s abysmal record as Clark County Sheriff!

And the band plays on, and the local media plays along, and our only hope is that the USDOJ finally steps in to one of the most dysfunctional and most corrupted police organizations in the United States—that would be the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department under Sheriff Douglas Gillespie.
